James McBean Jr.

QUINCY, Pa. - James McBean Jr., 97, of Quincy United Methodist Home, and formerly of 13429 Old Mill Road, Waynesboro, Pa., died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at the home.

Born Jan. 13, 1903, in Androssen, Scotland, he was the son of the late James McBean Sr.

He graduated from a high school in Scotland. He attended college in the United States.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene "Beanie" Westbury McBean, in 1995. They were married June 20, 1931.

He was employed as a certified public accountant for companies in New Jersey and New York, including the New York Giants Franchise. He was vice president of Waynesboro Knitting Mill, retiring in 1959.

He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge 731 of Waynesboro and Waynesboro Country Club.

He is survived by a sister, Janet McBean of Silver Lake Nursing Home in Staten Island, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Alex McBean.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Quincy United Methodist Home in Quincy. The Rev. C. Albert Guyer will officiate.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Quincy United Methodist Home Benevolent Home, P.O. Box 128, Quincy, PA 17247.

Delbert T. Keeling

Delbert Troy Keeling, 84, of 20213 Robinwood Court, Hagerstown, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

Born June 21, 1916, in Salina, Okla., he was the son of the late James F. and Vergie Clark Keeling.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marie Blevins Keeling, on July 21, 2000.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He retired in 1987 after 20 years of employment from WGAY Radio in Silver Spring, Md., where he was chief engineer of broadcasting.

He is survived by a daughter, Patty Sue Bender of Mercersburg, Pa.; three sons, Danny Ray Keeling of El Salvadore, Central America, Fred Leslie Keeling of Kansas City, Kan. and Brad Elmer Keeling of Smithsburg; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown. The Rev. Tim Lester will officiate.

Arrangements are by Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.




Robert D. Rector Jr.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Robert D. Rector Jr., 49, of 860 Oak Ridge Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at his home.

Born Oct. 30, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Dr. Robert D. and Dorothy Hitchon Rector of Chambersburg, Pa.

He was a 1969 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School and a 1974 graduate of University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

He was preceded in death by one brother, David R. Rector, in 1972.

Private services will be held Sunday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.

There will be no public viewing.




Donald E. Cooper

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Donald E. Cooper, 64, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg.

Born May 27, 1936, in New Boston, Ohio, he was the son of the late James and Rebecca Dummit Cooper.

He was formerly employed by Schmidt's Bakery.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Holl and Rebecca Holl, both of Germany; five nieces and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Renee Sencindiver.

Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Local arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.




Evelyn B. Sites

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Evelyn B. Sites, 66, of Martinsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born Dec. 21, 1934, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Truman and Lucy Davis Knipple.

She was a member of the Salvation Army and the Salvation Army Women's League.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Iden of Martinsburg; three sisters, Ann Everhart of Darkesville, W.Va., Esther Ritenour of Martinsburg and Cora McDonald of Inwood, W.Va.; two brothers, Lyle Knipple of Hagerstown and John Knipple of Martinsburg; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg. Captain Andy Gilliam and the Rev. Tom Blake will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




D. Sue Strait

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - D. Sue Strait, 56, of 801 Battle Ridge Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at her home.

Born Sept. 12, 1944, in Jacksonville, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Hallie Jean Turney Waller.

She was an assembler at Conair Corp. in McConnellsburg for 18 years.

She was a member of Knobsville Church of the Brethren in Knobsville, Pa.
