BALTIMORE - Rodney Gibson scored on a turn-around shot with 17 seconds remaining, then stole the ball on the ensuing possession to lift No. 4 St. Maria Goretti (11-3, 2-0) into first place in the Baltimore Catholic League with a 44-43 win over Archbishop Spalding.

Gibson finished with a game-high 18 points to go along with five steals and five blocks. Matt Spierenburg had seven points, six assists, and four blocks.
