Sharpsburg briefs - railroad grant match

SHARPSBURG - The Sharpsburg Town Council voted 6-0 Monday night to match a $7,500 grant for the Hagerstown Model Railroad Museum Inc., if the organization gets the grant, Councilwoman Denise Troxell said.

The museum is applying for a grant from the Maryland Historic Trust, but won't know until July whether it was successful, Troxell said.

Museum officials would use the money to renovate the interior of the old train station west of Sharpsburg.

SHARPSBURG - The Washington County Commissioners will meet with Sharpsburg and Keedysville elected officials on March 1 to discuss the annual tax rebates.

The 7 p.m. meeting will be held in Sharpsburg's Town Hall, Sharpsburg Councilwoman Denise Troxell said. The two towns take turns hosting the meeting.

The meeting often is dominated by talk of other issues elected officials and townspeople wish to discuss with the commissioners.
