Alice V. Breeden

Alice Virginia Breeden, 69, of 904 Queen Annes Court, Hagerstown, who died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, is survived by 13 grandchildren.




Grace E. Keefer

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Grace E. Keefer, 80, of 10069 Little Cove Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born Aug. 17, 1920, in Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter Ray and Ruth Smith Rock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle B. Keefer, in 1999. They were married Feb. 14, 1942.

She was a homemaker and helped with the family farm.

She was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Little Cove, Pa., and had taught Sunday School.

She was a former treasurer of Warren Township Burial Association.

She is survived by a daughter, Vesta K. Harnish of Mercersburg; a brother, Carl E. Rock of Chambersburg; a stepsister, Beulah Bivens of Mercersburg; two stepbrothers, Harry Burkholder of Mercersburg and Leroy Burkholder of Reading, Pa.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Walter W. Burkholder; a sister, and a brother.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Little Cove. The Revs. Henry K. Johnson, Deborah Strait and Belvy C. White will officiate. Burial will be in Methodist Church Cemetery in Little Cove.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park Ave. in Mercersburg; and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church.

Lorene B. Snowberger

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Lorene B. "Renie" Snowberger, 63, of 9160 Gap Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at Waynesboro Hospital.

Born April 2, 1937, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd B. and Iva E. Pentz Snowberger.

She was a 1955 graduate of Quincy (Pa.) High School.

She retired in 1994 from Waynesboro Police Department, where she worked part time as a dispatcher. She had been employed by Wayne Sportswear in Waynesboro for 27 years, as a cleaner, then as an inspector.

She was a member of Waynesboro Fish and Game Association.

She is survived by two sisters, Kathryn E. Snowberger and Jean H. Snowberger, both at the family home; and cousins.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., in Waynesboro. The Rev. Walter A. Stuart will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Quincy.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Irene J. Jack

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Irene June Rock Jack, 69, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at the home of her son, Jay Jack.

Born June 16, 1931, in Pond Bank, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Millard E. and Beatrice Viola Stoops Rock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Jerry Jack.

She was a 1949 graduate of Greencastle (Pa.) High School; and a 1952 graduate of City Hospital School of Nursing.

She worked as a nursing supervisor at City Hospital in Martinsbirg; and was a nurse in Berkeley County for more than 50 years.

She retired from BMA of Martinsburg Dialysis Center Unit as director of nursing.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Jon T. Jack of Martinsburg and Jay M. Jack of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; a sister, Betty Heck of Boise, Idaho; three brothers, Richard Rock and Harold Rock, both of Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., and Sam Rock of State Line, Pa.; and a granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur Rock and John Rock.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church at Sleepy Creek in Morgan County, W.Va. Pastor Daniel Wright will officiate.

Burial will be private.

Conord E. Ahalt

Conord Eugene Ahalt, 75, of 11 W. Baltimore St. in Hagerstown, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 4, 1925, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John Hillary and Florence Daymude Ahalt.

He was employed as a sheet metal worker by Pangborn Corp. for 15 years, retiring in 1987.

He attended Grace Brethren Church.

He was a member of American Legion Dixon-Troxell Post 211 of Funkstown.
