Maryland State Police released photos of two men wanted in connection with the death of a Clear Spring man during a robbery Dec. 5.

Police say two men entered the National Pike home of William Leonard Messersmith, robbed and killed him.

A female acquaintance found Messersmith, 76, lying in a pool of blood inside his small, green mobile home about two miles west of Clear Spring on Dec. 7.

Liger Albert Grady, 18, and Jeff Stanley, also known as Saul Joseph Stanley, 22, are each charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, robbery, false imprisonment, felony theft and assault, police said. Grady is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. Stanley is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 175 pounds.

Police said they are working to get details of the crime on the television program America's Most Wanted.

The two were last seen over the Christmas holiday in a Sheetz store in Martinsburg, W.Va., police said.

The men are believed to have a handgun in their possession and are hiding out in West Virginia where they both have relatives, police said.

"It's their home base; they feel comfortable there," said Trooper Jack McCauley.

Police said the men are believed to have stayed in several motels in West Virginia and Virginia.

Police warned that anyone who has knowledge of or has helped the fugitives will be prosecuted.
