Mail Call for 1/5

"Has anyone seen the beautiful railroad underpass out by the Subway Seafood Restaurant on Burhans Boulevard? It's beautiful. Someone needs to recognize the artist. What is his name and how did he paint the top of the underpass with all the traffic that goes through there? Now there is an engine painted on the side nearest Subway. Do a story, take some pictures, Daily Mail, and keep us informed on this wonderful well done job and its artist. And can we get more underpasses done like that in Hagerstown?"

"To Lucy, driver of bus 246. I want to wish you a happy New Year, we miss you. From a patient."

"Ernest, if you are out there, this is Penny. We met 14 years ago and I am looking for you. Please call Mail Call and leave a message."

"Does anyone know of any churches in the area that have Bible studies for singles? I would be interested in attending. Leave the information in Mail Call."

"Does anyone know the telephone number of the Weather Channel on cable channel 38? They don't show Hagerstown's temperature anymore. I want to call them."

"I have the operating budget from the School Board. Why is the transportation director making $80,000 with proposal to increase to $83,000? That is where the waste is with the county schools. It is with the administrators."

"About the animal control ordinance. I just talked to the commissioners' office. They are having a meeting on Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. in their headquarters on West Washington Street. They are once again going to be discussing the animal control ordinance. These are the folks that were pushing the delegation, last time I heard, to make it a misdemeanor, if your dog or cat was caught straying, it is a $100 fine for the first time, in order to get the animal back, $250, $300, $350 etc., I think everyone who has any interest in living a peaceful life with their pets had better show up at this meeting."

"As an ordinary person not involved with the School Board, it was very apparent at the meeting Tuesday night that the bus contractors know what they are talking about."

"I have Christmas cards that I hate to throw away and I am wondering if there is a school or any organization that could use them? If so, let Mail Call know and I will see that you get them. Thanks."

"Does anyone know of a store or location that sells Hagerstown High School yearbooks? I have lost mine recently and I would like to replace it. Please call Mail Call and let me know."

"We want to wish our daughter and sister Brandy a very happy 18th birthday. We love you, Mom, Mike, Jennifer, Justin and Cody."

"If anyone saw an accident at the corner of West Side and Washington Avenue between 3:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, please call 301-733-1631 and ask for Linda."

"I hope they didn't print too many of the Millennium posters featured on the front page of Wednesday's paper because on the poster, Millennium is spelled wrong."

-Hagerstown

"How about when Montgomery Wards shuts down, why doesn't Sears move out into their building? Wouldn't that be great?"

"To the lady who is looking for a religious singing group, call David Loy at the Presbyterian Church at 301-739-6337."

"I am listening on the radio about these bad drivers, and of course they are blaming it on the teenagers. Why did they take driver's ed out of the schools? They put too many emphasis on training for the sports. It is not fair."

"Why do we need more than one Washington County phone book?"
