Suns set press conference for Monday

The Hagerstown Suns' Baseball Club is expected to hold a press conference Monday, Hagerstown City Councilman, Alfred W. Boyer, confirmed Thursday.

Boyer said he did not know the reason for the press conference.

"I'm as anxious to hear as you are. I hope it's positive," Boyer said.

Suns' general manager, David Blenckstone wouldn't comment Thursday evening.

Team owner Winston Blenckstone could not be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.

In the past, Winston Blenckstone has said he would sell the team unless a new baseball stadium is built.

The Suns, a Class-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, play at the city-owned Municipal Stadium which was built around 1930.

Recent proposals for a new baseball stadium have been thwarted.

The latest plan called for demolishing most of Municipal Stadium and building a new facility on that Memorial Boulevard site. But that plan was dropped after cost estimates came in too high.
