Boonsboro considers new 3-way stop

BOONSBORO - Boonsboro Assistant Mayor Howard Long suggested the Town Council consider a three-way stop at the intersection of Della Lane and Kerns Drive.

Long said he was at an accident at the intersection on Dec. 29 when someone suggested the three-way stop.

The council had considered a four-way stop there twice in the past, but both times the Washington County Sheriff's Department conducted traffic surveys and determined a four-way stop wasn't warranted, said Town Manager Jake Jones.

There are already stop signs at Kerns and Della, and where Thomas Alley meets Della Lane, Long said. The three streets intersect in the northwest end of Boonsboro.

The proposed stop sign could go on southbound Della Lane, leaving northbound drivers on Della Lane with the right of way, Long said.

No decision was made at Tuesday night's council meeting on the proposal.
