City to collect trees



Christmas tree pickup will begin the week of Jan. 8 in Hagerstown, beginning with the northwest quadrant.

Trees will be removed from the west side of North Potomac Street to the north side of West Washington Street, and all areas in between, on Monday, Jan. 8.

On Tuesday, Jan. 9, trees from the north side of East Washington Street to the east side of North Potomac Street, and all areas in between, will be picked up.

Trees in the southwest quadrant, which is the south side of West Washington Street to the west side of South Potomac Street, and all areas in between, will be picked up Wednesday, Jan. 10.

The final pickup will be in the southeast quadrant on Thursday, Jan. 11. All trees from the east side of South Potomac Street to the south side of East Washington Street, and all areas in between, will be gathered on that day.

According to Eric Deike, acting public works manager, trees can be placed at the curb as early as 4 p.m. the day before pickup and no later than 7 a.m. on the designated pickup day.

Nothing else placed by the curb will be picked up.
