Hagerstown man hospitalized after Sunday shooting

A Hagerstown man who was shot several times was found lying in his front doorway Sunday morning, police said.

Eric Dameron Campbell of 439 N. Mulberry St. was being treated at Washington County Hospital Sunday afternoon. A hospital spokeswoman said he was classified as a confidential patient and refused to provide a condition report.

Hagerstown City Police Detective Shawn Schultz said Campbell's wounds were potentially fatal.

The motive and identity of the assailant was unknown Sunday, police said. Schultz said investigators were working on contacting witnesses.

Police are trying to find the assailant, who was described as a black male with a thin build, about 35 years old.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Schultz or Detective Caroll Braun at Hagerstown City Police Department at 301-790-3700, ext. 234.
