Terald W. Allen

Terald Wayne Allen, 53, of Hagerstown, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000.

Born in Maryland, he was the son of the late Floyd and Alma Renner Allen.

He was employed by St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore.

He is survived by cousins, aunts and uncles.

Services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

James H. Armstrong

James Henry Armstrong, 77, of 10911 Decker Ave., Hagerstown, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Aug. 2, 1923, in Mapleville, Md., he was the son of the late Jacob and Daisy Irene Herman Armstrong.

He retired from both Mack Trucks and Fairchild Industries of Hagerstown, where he was employed as a supervisor.

He was a member of Disabled American Veterans; and Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211 of Funkstown.

He is survived by his wife, Madeline May Ausherman Armstrong; two daughters, Anna M. Kinzer of Falling Waters, W.Va., and Donna L. Pompell of Hagerstown; a brother, Albert Armstrong of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a son, James H. Armstrong Jr.; a sister, Margaret Shoup; and a brother, Clarence Armstrong.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown. The Rev. E. Reese Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




James G. Miller

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - James G. Miller, 64, of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and formerly of 15721 Mountain Green Road, Spring Run, Pa., died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at the center.

Born May 22, 1936, in Spring Run, he was the son of John W. Miller of Spring Run and the late Frances Smith Miller.

He was a graduate of Fannett-Metal High School in Willow Hill, Pa.

He retired as a self-employed mechanic.

He was a member of Mountain Green United Methodist Church in Willow Hill.

He was a member of McCartney Post 232 American Legion of Dry Run, Pa.

In addition to his father, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa K. Miller of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Paula A. Miller of Dry Run; a son, John S. Miller of Fannettsburg, Pa.; four sisters, Joan Gamble of Shippensburg, Pa., Marie Brenize of Orrstown, Pa., and Mariam Guyer and Betty Kadel, both of Chambersburg; two brothers, Roy C. Miller of Spring Run and Ray Miller of Shippensburg; and two step-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Jones.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at John L. Agett Funeral Home, 18875 Main St. in Dry Run. The Rev. William R. Bair will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Path Valley Cemetery in Fannett Township, Pa.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday at noon at the funeral home.

Evelyn L. Duffey

Evelyn L. Detrow Duffey, 95, formerly of Smithsburg and Fahrney Keedy Nursing Home in Boonsboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Avalon Manor Health Care Center in Hagerstown.

Born Jan. 28, 1905, in Ringgold, she was the daughter of the late Roy H. and Susan A. Sigler Detrow.

She attended Mount Vernon School near Waynesboro, Pa.

Her husband, Clarence D. Duffey, whom she married June 5, 1919, died April 3, 1995.

In her early life she was employed by Wishard's Orchards, packing apples during apple season.

She was a member of Welty Church of the Brethren near Smithsburg, the adult Sunday school class and women's fellowship, which she served as president for many years.

She was a member of national AARP.

She is survived by one daughter, Frances M. Wolinski of Baltimore; three sons, Eugene A. Duffey Sr. of Clear Spring, Roy C. Duffey of Tucson, Ariz., and Donald R. Duffey of Waynesboro; 17 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Earl R. Duffey, Oct. 14, 1999; two brothers, Gerald E. Detrow and Carroll R. Detrow.

Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., in Waynesboro. The Rev. C. Dean Mouk and the Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Miriam I. Thorne

SMITHSBURG - Miriam Ivy Thorne, 95, of John Cline Road, died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000 at College View Nursing Home.

Born May 27, 1905, in Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Elizabeth Milley Thorne.
