Toy donations needed

Making sure every child has at least one toy under the tree this Christmas is the goal of the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign in Washington County.

As the chairman, Bob Glausier is encouraging churches, civic groups, Scouts and anyone else who cares about kids to support the effort.

Toys for Tots has been a Marine Corps Reserve project for 52 years. It began operating in Washington County in 1997, thanks to the Marine Corps League in Hagerstown.

Glausier is also commandant of the Marine Corps League, Bulldog Detachment.

Toys for Tots donation boxes are set up throughout the region and response has been encouraging.

The toys will be distributed Monday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m., in the Long Meadow Shopping Center in an empty storefront at the north end of the center.
