Letters to the Editor 12/14

Hear our call to arms

To the editor:

The United States is under attack! By raving hordes of politicians, truth-distorting media members and all their division encouraging flunkies. Their apparent tactic has been to divide and conquer - and to this point, ashamedly they have been quite successful.

This letter is to all my brothers and sisters in America. I do not differentiate between race, religion or creed when I say brothers and sisters either. I mean all those people living in this once great country. It is high time we realize that we are at war and begin to do something about it - or we and our children will suffer the consequences for a very long time. It is time to cast the demons of racism, religious intolerance and all the "us against them" lies off and join as a united country.

It can be done, and it needs to be done before there is nothing left. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that both political party "leaders" are nothing short of incompetent. The majority of Americans are united in this one thing: We don't believe another politician is going to do anything beneficial for this country. I believe that had a common man (or woman) been able to sit at the debating table with Mr. Bush and Mr. Gore, there wouldn't have been all this mess, as that person would have cleaned house, so to speak.

We need someone with a clear understanding and respect for the Constitution, and who has experienced the "benefits" of an out-of-control government first hand. One of the main problems that most politicians bring with them is a lack of perspective. Most are well-off enough to have been to the best schools, have most of the good things that money and power can buy and therefore lack the vision most ordinary citizens have.

There are responsibilities that go along with being an American citizen. One of those is that we citizens are to be the guardians of our freedom. If the government begins infringing too much upon our rights or taxes the citizen almost into bankruptcy or ignores, corrupts or defies the Constitution, then we are admonished by that very same document to set up a new government that does obey it.

That is why the 2nd Amendment is so very important and also under constant attack by those wishing to remain in power. It is the single and solitary Amendment that can protect the others. Anyone who seriously believes that victim disarmament works, or gun control as it is popularly labeled, should take a close look at the crime statistics in England, Australia and Canada.

For that matter, look right here in the states. In all the carry-concealed states, crime rates are much lower than in the states that have no such freedoms. I urge all Americans to take a serious look at the United States Freedom Fighters site at http://www.usff.com/ and let the quotations there sink in and see if there remains within us any patriotic sense of duty, honor and responsibility. If so then the question remains - what to do? Perhaps a call to arms would sufficient.

League itself is doing the defaming

To the editor:

I was saddened and disgusted to read in the Dec. 3 edition of The Herald-Mail, that a Jewish group, The Anti-Defamation League, is warning schools that they cannot have drama depicting the birth of Christ, but can have a play about Christmas presents.

What are those people going to come up with next? Truly educated people know our forefathers allowed Christ in the schools.

They should change their name to The Defamation League, because they are defaming my best friend.
