Mail Call for 12/13

"I am calling about the park in Williamsport. I think it is beautiful. My father is mayor over there, I don't live there anymore. He does a good job helping them pick out the lights. The town workers did the work. Friday night, Dec. 8, one of the deer were broken and the mayor went down to fix it. I just want to let everyone who thinks my dad does not do a great job. He is one of the best mayors that Williamsport has ever had."

"On this situation with the Supreme Court deciding who is going to be president. I think it is about time that the Supreme Court appointees going into the Supreme Court should not be appointed by a president or a Congress. They should be nominated, but not appointed. They should be voted on directly by the people and the voters. There probably wouldn't be as much bias as there is now."

"To the person who said in Thursday, Dec. 7 Mail Call regarding a young boy that came to her door. It sounds like the same kid that was at my house on Wednesday, Nov. 22. After talking to him for about the same time you did, his tune changed from being nice to being very angry when I told him I was not interested in buying any magazines. I alerted several neighbors of him making his rounds after his confrontation with me. I was upset over the situation and I thought he was a walking time bomb. Years ago we used to be able to open our doors without being threatened. Those days are a thing of the past. Beware."

"WYII, 95.9, that is playing Christmas Music all day long, has a number for you to call to leave a message if you want a certain kind of music on their station. They are interested to know. They used to be country, but if you want an easy listening, they have a number, it is 1-304-263-8868, ext. 308. We all miss WWMD that used to be on the radio. This is your chance to get the kind of music you like on the radio."

"The rules of golf have changed. You can now yell Gore! instead of Fore! That way you can hit the ball as many times as you want and only count the ones you like."

"Thanks WJEJ for the great Christmas music, I also enjoy your phone party."

"I have a great idea for 2004, why don't we just pick two men from the Supreme Court to say who is going to be president. Our votes don't count anymore."

"I want to know why the votes shouldn't be counted? I never heard of a president being named before Election Day was over. It was a little after 3 p.m. when Bush was on his way over to be called president. That is just not fair, we are the ones that vote for him. I am an older woman and I think that our votes should be the ones that count.

"This is to the lady who was looking for the Santa Surplus Store. I don't think there are any in the Hagerstown or Martinsburg area this year. But there is a store down at 133 E. Franklin Street that does sell all kinds of merchandise like House of Lloyd used to sell at the Santa Surplus. If you are interested, please stop by, we will be glad to see you."
