Donations to the United Way of Washington County's fall giving campaign totaled more than $1.5 million, or 90 percent of the campaign goal, according to agency officials.

Agency volunteers hope the entire community will help the United Way achieve its $1.7 million goal before the campaign ends Dec. 31, United Way spokesman William L. Bulla said in a Friday press release.

The agency continues to receive individual and leadership gifts. Employee/employer campaigns are also ongoing but should be completed within the week, he said.

Contributions of any amount will help the United Way fund health and human service programs through its 21 member agencies. These programs serve the community's youth, elderly, disabled and disadvantaged by providing help to strengthen families, nurture children, promote self-sufficiency and sustain health and wellness, Bulla said.
