Roscoe M. Grimes Sr.

FREDERICK, Md. - Roscoe M. Grimes Sr., 94, of Edgewood Church Road, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Northampton Manor Nursing Home in Frederick.

Born Nov. 11, 1906, in Frederick, he was the son of the late William T. and Idella B. Eyler Grimes.

He was a member of Woodsboro Lutheran Church.

He had been an automobile and farm implement mechanic and was employed at Glen L. Martin Co. He retired from Price Electric, Frederick, in 1973.

He is survived by his wife, Helen E. Shepley Grimes; a son, Roscoe M. Grimes Jr. of Frederick; two granddaughters, La Seille Willand of Thurmont, Md., and Mechelle Taccino of Frederick; and two great-grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Daisey Smith; and three brothers, Thomas Grimes, Charley Grimes, and Frank Grimes.

Private graveside services will be held at Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Myersville, Md., at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Dorothy Lundgen will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements are by Ricketts Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Myersville.




Mary B. Eddy

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Mary B. Eddy, 88, of Martinsburg, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at Heartland of Martinsburg.

Born June 27, 1912, in Franklin County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late James Corsey and Dora Scrivner Fries.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Norman W. Anderson, and her second husband, Tom H. Eddy.

She retired from the former Laurel Lynn Garment Company.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Golden Rule Chapter 69, Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by a foster son, Roger L. Fazio of Martinsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Grace King, Dora Kines and Frances LeDane; and seven brothers, Arthur Fries , Harry Fries, Norman Fries, Douglas Fries, Raymond Fries, Jim Fries and Frank Fries.

Services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., in Martinsburg. The Rev. G. Edward Grove, the Rev. Carroll B. Williams and the Rev. Troy E. Mays will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home where Golden Rule Chapter 69, O.E.S., will conduct a memorial service at 8 p.m.

Daniel S. Willard

FREDERICK, Md. - Daniel Sylvester "Pappy" Willard, 87, of 110 Burgees Hill Way, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at his home.

Born May 14, 1913, in Tuscarora, Md., he was the son of the late Harry Sylvester and Ethel Myers Willard.

His wife, Ethel Bussard Willard, died May 11, 1984.

At the time of his death he had been employed by Gladhill Tractor Mart in Frederick for more than 20 years.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown, Md.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol W. Baldwin of Walkersville, Md., and Diane E. Bullock of Loveland, Ohio; one son, Larry D. Willard of Frederick; one sister, Mildred P. Toms of Braddock Heights, Md.; one grandson; three stepgrandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown.

The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, 31 E. Main St., in Middletown. There will be a viewing Wednesday at the church one hour prior to services.

Robert A. Robertson

LONACONING, Md. - Robert A. "Cokey" Robertson, 96, of 6 Florida Way, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at Frostburg Village Nursing Home, where he had been a resident.

Born March 15, 1904, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Janet Anderson Robertson.

He was retired from Celanese Fibers as an electrician.

He was active in Oak Hill Cemetery Association, Lonaconing.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elsie M. Lloyd Robertson; two sons, Robert Robertson of Smithsburg, and E. Lloyd Robertson of Huntingtown, Md.; three daughters, Dorothy Brown of Lanham, Md., Elsie May Robertson of Lonaconing, and Ebbie L. Derr of Arnold, Md.; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Boal Funeral Homes, Barton, Md. The Rev. Peter Leathersich will officiate. Burial will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Poling Memorial Scholarship Fund at St. Maria Goretti High School, or the Faculty Foundation Scholarship at Hagerstown Community College.




John A. Vertar

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - John A. Vertar, 76, of 639 S. 4th St., died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, in Chambersburg Hospital.
