By BOB PARTLOW / Staff Writer, Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A 45-year-old Berkeley County, W.Va., woman died Monday morning when her car ran off Interstate 81 south of Martinsburg.

Carol Ellen Forss-Bailey of Rocking Horse Road in Gerrardstown, W.Va., was killed when her car left the southbound lane about two miles inside the West Virginia state line around 9:25 a.m., said Cpl. J. L. Folk of the West Virginia State Police. The car hit a tree about 200 feet off the road, he said.

"The car left the right side of the road for reasons unknown," Folk said. "There is no physical indication of what occurred, no braking, no swerving. There's no alcohol, no deer, no other vehicle according to a witness traveling northbound," Folk said. "There appeared to be no mechanical problem."
