$20,000 in damages following W.Va. fire

BEDINGTON, W.Va. - A West Virginia man was not injured but his mobile home was destroyed in a fire Sunday afternoon, according to Bedington Fire Department officials.

The fire began around 3:30 p.m. in a mobile home on Emerson Drive in northern Berkeley County, said Assistant Chief Andy Martin.

The occupant, whose name was not available Sunday night, was alerted to the fire by smoke detectors and escaped unharmed, Martin said.

Three engines from Bedington - including 15 firefighters - responded and had the fire under control in about a half hour, he said.

Firefighters were on the scene until 7:30 p.m.

The damage is estimated at $20,000, Martin said.

The cause is undetermined and an investigation will be underway for the next few days, he said.
