Tri-State wrestling capsules

WASHINGTON COUNTY

Boonsboro
Coach: Steve Peperak, 7th season

Returning Letterwinners: Seniors Jerid Nalley (145-152), Kelly Keegan (160); Juniors Jake Stottlemyer (112), Mike Wood (130), Jeff Smith (140), Tim Griffith (140), Jimmy Wilson (145-152); Sophmore Chad Cline (125).

Top Newcomers: Sophmores Andrew Bryson (103), Zac Steponavic (135-140).

Peperak's Outlook: "We are hoping to win some more matches than we did last year. We have a lot of young kids. I think some of these kids are going to turn on this year and start winning some matches. A lot of them have junior league experience, so they should be OK, but they're not seasoned."

Slick's Outlook: "After losing 13 seniors and nine starters, I think that we've been very encouraged about what we've seen with the young wrestlers. We have a real wide range of ability right now from guys who are state place finishers to kids who have only wrestled for nine days. We're just trying to make them blend and work well as a team. We have high expectations and we hope to be able to go back down to Montgomery County and do well against the big dogs."

Brake's Outlook: "I think it's been a few years that we've had close to .500 seasons, but we've been in matches that we should have won but we've lost. This year, the goal in mind is that we would expect to be over the .500 mark and that we're going to be a stronger, more physical team than we've had in the past because the kids that I have this year are stronger and more physical."
