Gladys R. Firor

THURMONT, Md. - Gladys "Peg" Ridenour Firor, 86, of 13812 Pryor Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 3, 1914, in Thurmont, she was the daughter of the late William Washington and Mildred Amelia Pryor Ridenour.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Lee Firor, in 1970.

She had been employed as a seamstress by Claire Frock for 42 years.

She was a member of Weller United Methodist Church in Thurmont, and taught Sunday school.

She was a member of AARP.

She is survived by two nieces, Mary Jo Ridgely of Ellicott City, Md. and Jean Fox of Thurmont.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Monroe Washington Ridenour.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Robert E. Dailey and Son Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St. in Thurmont. The Rev. Ruth Ann Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Thurmont.

The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 1 p.m.




William G. Price

William George Price, 67, of 410 1/2 Guilford Ave. in Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at his home.

Born Dec. 17, 1932, in Portage, Pa., he was the son of the late Melvin Paul and Rose Marie Kohari Price.

He owned and operated Professional Cleaners in Hagerstown for 45 years.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He was a member of Dixon Troxell Post 211 Funkstown American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marie I. Price; a daughter, Sherry Heck of Greencastle, Pa.; two sons, Greg Price of Williamsport and Doug Price of Hagerstown; two sisters, Roseanne Chappell of Portage and Barbara Jean Plewa of Cresson, Pa.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Price.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North in Hagerstown. The Rev. George A. Limmer will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Thomas R. Dove

SHARPSBURG - Thomas Russell Dove, 75, of Sharpsburg, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Sept. 17, 1925, in Boyce, Va., he was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Grace Saylor Dove.

He received an A.B. degree in education from Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, W.Va.; and a master's degree from Western Maryland College in Westminster, Md.

He had been employed as an insurance representative by United Insurance Co. and Metropolitan Insurance Co. He traced satellites for Goddard Space Center in Beltsville, Md. He retired from the Maryland Correctional Training Center in Hagerstown after teaching social studies for 24 years.

He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after World War II. He saw action in the South Pacific.

He was a member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Sharpsburg.

He was a member of the Maryland Classified Employees Association.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Cora Roulette Dove; a sister, Kathryn Bruton of Carmel, Ind.; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Blanche Boger, Pearl Jenson and Grace Rudy; and two brothers, Albin Dove and Powell Dove.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg. The Rev. Hal Dungan will officiate.
