Suns to unveil new look

The Hagerstown Suns are about to charge into the future by borrowing a little from the past.

The Suns will be unveiling their new look to go with their new affiliation - the San Francisco Giants - to the public on Wednesday at noon at the Frostburg State University Center at 16 W. Washington Street. The new look could quite possibly remind fans of the Suns glory days in Hagerstown.

Four new uniform combinations along with a new team logo will be on display at the meeting.

Gone are the white uniforms with blue lettering and red numbers that are property of the Toronto Blue Jays organization.

Returning is a throwback to the black and orange combination the team wore in the 1980s.

San Francisco and Baltimore, the Suns first affiliation, wear similar color schemes. The Giants color scheme has a more golden orange along with a charcoal black. The Suns logo will also return to the orange and black colors.

San Francisco signed on as Hagerstown's new affiliate after the 2000 season, ending Toronto's eight-year stay. The Blue Jays affiliate moved here from Myrtle Beach, S.C., in 1992 after Baltimore's Double-A affiliate elected to relocate in Bowie, Md.

Suns owner Winston Blenckstone and general manager David Blenckstone will be available for comments after the proceedings.
