Edwin E. Weatherholtz

SUMMIT POINT, W.Va. - Edwin Eugene "Manns" Weatherholtz, 61, of Summit Point, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at his home.

Born Nov. 3, 1939, in West Virginia, he was the son of Kathleen Grim Breeden of Ranson, W.Va. and the late Carl Benton Weatherholtz.

He had been employed by Jefferson Cold Storage Co. on Summit Point Road in Charles Town, W.Va.

He was a Protestant.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judy Ann Armstrong Weatherholtz; a daughter, Deanna Jenkins of Summit Point; two sons, Joseph Weatherholtz of Kentucky and Craig Weatherholtz, at home; two brothers, Junior Benton Weatherholtz of Charles Town and Roger Lee Weatherholtz of Ranson; and five grandchildren.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town. The Rev. Roy Chapman will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Mary G. Gehr

CLEAR SPRING - Mary Genevieve Gehr, 82, of Clear Spring, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare of Hagerstown.

Born Nov. 9, 1918, in Hopewell, Md., she was the daughter of the late Albert Ephran and Anna Ellen Bartles Hamby.

She was a housewife.

She was a member of Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship in Cearfoss.

She was a member of Ladies of the Elks Lodge 378; Morris Frock Post 42 American Legion Auxiliary; and Happy Face Travel Club, all in Hagerstown.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph W. Gehr Sr.; one daughter, Anna Mary Fritz of Clear Spring; two sons, Joseph W. Gehr Jr. and Albert R. Gehr, both of Clear Spring; six sisters, Martha Jane Hose, Dorothy C. Lowry, Ruth Keyser, Anna Mae Rubeck, Sarah Robinson and Susan Whittington, all of Hagerstown; three brothers, Albert H. Bartles and Clyde Bartles of Hagerstown, and John Bartles of Maugansville; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Willie Bartles.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., in Williamsport. Pastor Leon Yoder and Pastor Steve Wagoner will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Cemetery in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m.




Cecil M. Arnold

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Cecil McKinney Arnold, 55, of Shepherdstown, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at his home.

Born Aug. 28, 1945, in Harrisonburg, Va., he was the son of Ollie Blanche McKinney Arnold of Petersburg, W.Va. and the late Justin Edward Arnold.

He was a 1963 graduate of Petersburg (W.Va.) High School; and a 1967 graduate of Shepherd College with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.

He retired in 1999, after serving three years as police chief of the Shepherdstown Police Department. Earlier, he served 25 years on the Arlington County (Va.) Police Force.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Christ Reformed Church in Shepherdstown.

He was a member of Shepherdstown Fire Department, serving as lieutenant, president and trustee.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pamela C. "Pam" Hill Arnold; two sons, Andrew Arnold of Shepherdstown and J.J. Arnold of Santa Fe., N.M.; a sister, Charlotte Campbell of Goldsboro, N.C.; a brother, Douglas Arnold of Cabins, W.Va.; nieces and nephews.

A memorial graveside service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Shepherdstown. The Rev. Bronson Staley will officiate.

The family will receive friends Friday at Barron Hall at the Shepherdstown Fire Department following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box F, Shepherdstown, WV 25443; or Elmwood Cemetery, c/o Wayne Goodrich, P.O. Box 561, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.

Evelyn L. Weber

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Evelyn L. Weber, 92, of 1800 Deer Park Ave., died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born Aug. 6, 1908, in Hikes Point, Ky., she was the daughter of the late John A. and Lavania M. Nicholson Hikes.

Her husband, Lee A. Weber, died in 1987.

She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church in Louisville.

She is survived by two sons, Lee Richard Weber of Mt. Washington, Ky., and Bruce D. Weber of Smithsburg; two grandsons, Tod A. Weber of Ashburn, Va., and Scott D. Weber of Charlotte, N.C.; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday at Arch L. Heady Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park in Fern Creek, Ky. The Rev. Ron Geddy officiated.

Local arrangements were by Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.




Marvin G. Knott

Marvin G. "Gary" Knott, 39, of 115 N. Potomac St., died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
