Contributors give $10,000

The City of Hagerstown has received a $10,000 donation to pay for an entrance sign at Fairgrounds Park.

The contribution came from Beaver Mechanical Contractors Inc. and James C. Bryan Real Estate, both in Hagerstown, and will be given over a five year period, said city spokesperson Karen Giffin.

The city is soliciting contributions for various parts of the fairgrounds.

The fairgrounds is being turned into an outdoor recreational center that includes softball and soccer fields and walking trails.

The fields are expected to be ready for play in the spring.

Antietam Tree and Landscape in Hagerstown will do the landscaping around the sign for free, Giffin said.
