Born Oct. 7, 1914, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Lucius M. and Katherine B. Bonebrake Cearfoss.

Her husband, Phillip Long Sterling, died in 1971.

She was a graduate of Hagerstown High School; and Maryland School of Nursing in Sabillasville, Md., with the class of 1938.

She was a registered nurse at Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore, retiring in 1974.

She was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.

She was a member of Maryland Chapter 2 Order of the Eastern Star in Baltimore; and AARP Chapter 623.

She is survived by one sister, Nellie L. Fleagle of Williamsport; five nephews, 10 great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Samantha Harne; and three brothers, Lucius M. Cearfoss Jr., Walter Cearfoss and Daniel Cearfoss.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 10:30 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Elizabeth A. Brishcar will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, 40 E. Antietam St., Hagerstown.




Thomas L. Mongan

Thomas Lee Mongan, 51, of 17415 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at Waynesboro Hospital in Waynesboro, Pa.

He was born May 14, 1949, in Hagerstown.

He was employed by P.S.I. Packaging Services.

He is survived by his companion, Phyllis Main of Hagerstown; a stepdaughter; three stepsons; a sister; three brothers; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and a brother.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. Graveside services will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Arvel J. Barrett will officiate.




Jeanne H. Vogel

WHITEFORD, Md. - Jeanne Holtzman Vogel, 72, of 2935 Whiteford Road, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000.

She was born in Williamsport.

She was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School.

She is survived by her husband, Cletus J. Vogel, whom she married April 8, 1986; a daughter, Karen M. Kahl of Bel Air, Md.; four sons, Carl J. Vogel and Mark S. Vogel, both of Hagerstown, Paul J. Vogel and Cletus J. Vogel Jr., both of Bel Air; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Parks III and Rodney Parks.

Services will be today at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Bel Air. The Rev. Francis X. Callahan will officiate. Burial will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens.

Visitation was Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Evans Funeral Chapel in Bel Air.




Thomas M. Thomas

WILLIAMSPORT - Thomas Merle "Bus" Thomas, 81, of 14857 Bottom Road, who died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Thomas.

Reginald C. Mosby

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Reginald Carl Mosby, of Harrisonburg, and formerly of Hagerstown, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Retreat Hospital in Richmond, Va.

He is survived by a brother, Lenzlea Mosby of Hagerstown.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mount Paran Baptist Church in Elkton, Va. The Rev. A. T. Crawley will officiate.




Joanne Clark

Joanne Clark, 50, of 11915 Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at her home.

Born July 31, 1950, in Springfield, Ohio, she was the daughter of Margaret Brumfield Alexander of Hagerstown and the late Clarence Alexander.

She was a 1968 graduate of North Hagerstown High School; and attended Hagerstown Business College.

She was employed by Swimming Pool Specialties for 13 years.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Stacey L. Webster of Hagerstown; a son, Jason A. Clark of Hagerstown; her fianc, Steve Davis of Hagerstown; three sisters, Sharon Evans of Hagerstown, Cynthia Clark of Panama City Beach, Fla. and Carla Funderburgh of South Charleston, Ohio; two brothers, Rodger Alexander and Eddie Alexander, both of Hagerstown; a granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Clark Jr.

Graveside services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Hagerstown. The Rev. Dean Miller will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 E. Baltimore St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

Twyna L. Stubbs

Twyna Lee Katherine Stubbs, 22, of 1000 E. Noland Drive, Hagerstown, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at her home.

Born Oct. 23, 1978, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of Garland Bright Sr. of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Jacqueline Laverne Stubbs Russ of Cumberland, Md.

She attended South Hagerstown High School.

She attended Zion Baptist Church.
