George R. Getridge

CLEAR SPRING - George Ray "Wimp" Getridge, 67, of St. Paul Road, and formerly of Sharpsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at his home.

Born Feb. 22, 1933, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Marion Arthur and Clara May Callin Getridge.

He retired from R.F. Kline and Sons.

He was a member of Church of Christ in Sharpsburg.

He was a former member of Hagerstown Moose 212; and IORM Tribe 84 of Williamsport.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mae Saunders Getridge; two daughters, Donna R. Lightcap of Falling Waters, W.Va. and Tammy K. Himes of Weaverton, Md.; two sons, Mark W. Getridge of Hagerstown and Terry L. Getridge of Sharpsburg; four sisters, Doris L. Gatrell, Pearl A. Marshall and Jeanette L. Fravel, all of Sharpsburg, and Lena Willoughby of Laverne, Calif.; three brothers, James F. Getridge and Gary W. Getridge, both of Boonsboro, and Garnet S. Getridge of Brunson, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian E. Lapole; and two brothers, Harold Getridge and Pete Getridge.

Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St. in Williamsport. The Rev. Dale C. Cosden will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Williamsport.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will open at 9 a.m.




Evelyn A. Schlichter

NORFOLK, Va. - Evelyn A. Ambrose Schlichter, 86, of 1036 Cambridge Crescent, and formerly of Menno Village in Chambersburg, Pa. and Waynesboro, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at DePaul Hospital in Norfolk.

Born July 19, 1914, in Leitersburg, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Anna Mary Sheffler Ambrose.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth G. Schlichter, on April 11, 2000. They were married April 12, 1941.

She was a 1932 graduate of Waynesboro High School.

She was a homemaker. She worked as a secretary at Landis Tool Co. in Waynesboro from 1934 to 1943.

She was a member of Otterbein United Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro.

She was a member of Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary; the former North Chapter of AARP; and National AARP; and member and past treasurer of Waynesboro Lioness Club.

She is survived by a son, Dr. K. Jeffrey Schlichter of Norfolk; a sister, Lorene A. Heckman of Waynesboro; and two granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a son, William A. Schlichter; and a sister, Kathryn A. Eber.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St. in Waynesboro. Pastor Lester E. Stine will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to W.A. Schlichter Memorial Scholarship Fund, Juniata College, 1700 Moore St., Huntingdon, PA 16652-2119.




Pete Hamburg

Pete Hamburg, 60, of 2029 Windsong Drive, Hagerstown, and formerly of Boonsboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at her home.

Born May 31, 1940, in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late Percy Maxwell and Hazel Lorraine Snapp Sweeney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin E. "Wimp" Hamburg, on April 26, 2000.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown.

She was a volunteer with the Washington County School District.

She is survived by three daughters, Kim Hamburg of Hagerstown, Christi Weaver of Boonsboro and Patti Ann Grimes of Ocean City, Md.; a son, Dean Hamburg of Hagerstown; two sisters, Patty Pana and Vicki Lowery, both of Hagerstown; a brother, Jerry Sweeney of Sharpsburg; 11 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She donated her body for the benefit of medical science.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. in Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be to Boonsboro Free Library, 19 N. Main St., Boonsboro, MD 21713.




Carl W. Crouse

BALTIMORE - Carl Willis Crouse, 82, of Baltimore, and formerly of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000.

Born May 21, 1918, he was the son of the late Maynard O. and Lily Hege Houpt Crouse.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Semeik Crouse; two daughters, Gail Crouse of Baltimore and Carla Joan Mirchandani of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Alda May Asser of Sarasota, Fla., Ora Jean Taylor of Chambersburg, Pa. and Reba Jane Chaplinsky of Palatine, Ill.; a brother, Wayne H. Crouse of Big Cove Tannery; a granddaughter; and 11 nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Johnson's Funeral Home, Towson, Md.




Ruth B. Sterling

WILLIAMSPORT - Ruth B. Sterling, 86, of 154 N. Artizan St., and formerly of 55 E. Washington St., Hagerstown, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.
