Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"I wanted to thank WYII radio station for the constant Christmas music. We truly miss WWMD, but WYII is making up for it. It is a country station, but they are not just playing country, there are all kinds of artists. It is just beautiful. It gets you in the spirit. I just happen to be riding in the car and found it playing, so thank you."

"To the nice-looking downtown parking meter reader, thank you for taking the time the other day to explain the ticket to me and listening to my side of the story. Not everyone would take the time to do that. Thanks very much from a senior citizen."

"If you want to laugh until your side hurts. Go and see the Washington County Playhouse's production of 'Nuncrackers.' The nuns are funny and the children are delightful."

"Thanks WYII for the Christmas music, it is just beautiful."

"I am not sure where the person got their information about Christmas Clubs at the banks. Number one, the state of Maryland does not charge anything for Christmas Clubs. Banks are mandated by Maryland law to pay no less than three percent on every Christmas Club that they have, if certain conditions are met. That is more than what most banks are paying on their savings accounts. Christmas Clubs are a great deal. They are available at most banks in the area. You should check out some other banks."

"With all this talk about all the votes that were not counted in Florida because they were not punched through completely or they only had a dimple with a chad hanging from the back. I have a question as to how they can even consider counting these votes, when on the ballot it says to make sure your ballot had no chads or it will be invalid. My daughter, who is seven years old, understood that. How come the adults couldn't? Also, why is all this going on? Because it is Florida. How many ballots do you think that were thrown out throughout the entire country, for one reason or another? Not all the military people live in Florida, they live in other states and it gets mailed back to their home state. So they were thrown away, I am sure. This is not the only state that ballots were thrown out."

"I can't figure out Gov. Bush when all through his campaigning, he said, 'I trust the people, not the government', that was his slogan. Now when it comes to counting votes, he doesn't trust the people, he goes back to the government. Now this is speaking out of both sides of your mouth."

"For the person who was looking for the Gruber's Almanac, you can find it at 7-Eleven on Salem Avenue."

"This is council member McClure and I am calling in response to the anonymous letter I received at City Hall about the problems some of you are having in the 200 block of Summit Avenue. Your letter was very courteous and professional. Unfortunately, I do not respond to anonymous request or accusations, whether verified or unverified. If you do call me, your identity will remain confidential and I will work with you to the very best of my ability. You can reach me at 301-797-6989. Thank you."

"To the person who said that the parents should know where their kids are at all times because of the little boy that was murdered. I think that we should know where all of the convicts are that they are letting out of prison all the time."

"My husband and I went to the Moose for Thanksgiving dinner and I would like to thank those people for giving us the best dinner we have had in a very long time."

"After watching tired officials holding ballots up to the lights. How in the world can any vote counted be accurate? No vote has ever been accurate."

"I want to wish my son Greg a happy birthday. I love you with every beat of my heart."

"A few weeks ago Martin Yan from the PBS special 'Yan Can Cook' was over at the mall. I was wondering if there was a write-up about in the paper or what? I never saw anything in the paper. It was a very good event that the mall sponsored."

"Has anyone had any more news about the new Super Wal-Mart that is going to be built near Funkstown? I think it would be great for the people in the eastern part of the county instead of driving over to the other part of the county to go shopping. I think a Home Depot would be great."
