Mail Call for 11/28

"How sad I was to read your story in the paper on Wednesday about sexual orientation discrimination and how many people are so full of hate for homosexuals and for people who have other sexual preferences than they do. It is a sad time in our world when there is so much hate. Everybody wants to hate homosexuals and put it on God's shoulders and God says it is wrong. Well guess what, God is not here, we are. We are living on this planet and we have to learn to get along. It is wrong for you people to preach hate because you don't like the kind of practices they do in their bedrooms. I know a lot of gay people and they are really great people. I know a lot of really horrible straight people. Try to get along, stop being so full of hate. I really don't think this is what God wanted."

"As the Christmas season approaches and the lights are being put up on the trees and light poles. It would be nice to see the tree in the median at the corner of Cleveland and Dual Highway to be lighted for our approach into the city."

"I want to congratulate my friend Bobby for getting his first deer of the year. From Chris."

"I am calling in regards to the 9- year-old boy that was killed in Frederick. I can only imagine what the parents are going through. I could never imagine having to bury my child. When reading the article about what happened, they mentioned that the mother reported her son missing from her public housing home. Someone just lost their child here and what does it matter if she lived in public housing or a mansion? I don't see what that has to do with the situation. The paper is trying to single out this person or suggest that she is a low-income person and I think that is very wrong. I would like to know what everyone else thinks about this."

"To the person who complained about children getting sick because they didn't have their coats on when they were lost. You don't get sick from the cold, you get sick from germs. That child was far less likely to get sick being outside in the cold than he was being inside the mall with all those people breathing on him."

"I want to thank the lady who was honest enough to turn my wallet in at Wal-Mart last Saturday afternoon. Thanks again."

"I wanted to tell you to listen to WYII, some of the most beautiful Christmas music. They have it all day long."

"If anyone found a set of keys on Nov. 21, car keys. Please call Mail Call. I can get in touch with you. I possibly lost them at Ames or Robinwood."

"I have a couple of safety tips when driving. Turn your lights on with your windshield wipers when it is raining, so other people can see you. When you are driving on the road, do not swerve to avoid hitting the deer, it is best to hit it head on. If you swerve you can lose control worse if you were to hit it head on."

"I respect what Mike Nye from Community Rescue Service said. This is a wake-up call for the Hagerstown community. I have known Mike since the YMCA days. He is an excellent, outspoken and sufficient leader."

"I have some pet peeves that I am sure that people can identify with. People who are driving in front of you, they turn with no turn signals, come on and off exits with no turn signals, making a quick turn in front of you with no turn signals. Use your turn signals. That is what the manufacturers put them there for. Another peeve is that people expect us to move over when someone is coming off of an exit. We don't have to move over, that is only done as a courtesy thing. Don't keep coming out and expect the person on the interstate to move over because sometimes we can't."

"Well, the Grinch and his brother stole the election along with that woman. I hope they have bad luck."

"What is wrong with Hagers-town? Are they afraid to make a change? Why can't they put some color on the town tree and put the lights on different so they don't look like they are in straight lines? How many Christmas trees do we see in other towns that have the lights going on straight up and down? Put some ribbons on the tree. Please do something creative for a change. I want a response to this. Mr. McClure, you seem to get things done, talk to Mr. Bruchey."
