Chambersburg man attacked, police say

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg man was attacked for no apparent reason outside of the Chambersburg Mall Saturday night by an unknown man, Pennsylvania State Police report.

Abdullah Khaliqi was not injured when the unknown man pulled a folding knife and swung it at the victim outside of the theater entrance at 10:50 p.m., police said.

The suspect, describe as a black male, 5-feet 9-inches, fled the scene in a yellow Volkswagen driven by a white man, police said.

Police have no motive for the attack at this time.

False alarms lead to owner's citation

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Chambersburg bowling alley operator was cited Saturday morning after his alarm system registered its fourth false alarm in the last year, Pennsylvania State Police report.


Rudy Lee Goetz, owner of Nellie Fox Bowling Lanes, 3587 Molly Pitcher Highway South, received the citation Saturday, police said.

Police issued a non-traffic citation for the violation after the alarm system at the business sounded a false alarm at 5 a.m. Saturday, the fourth in a 12-month period, police report.

Woman treated after traffic accident

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - A Fayetteville woman was injured Friday morning after she allegedly walked into the path of an oncoming vehicle, Pennsylvania State Police report.

Theresa Elaine Ewing, 42, of Fayetteville, was treated at Chambersburg Hospital for her injuries.

A woman ran through an opening in traffic at 11:34 a.m. Friday in the westbound lane of Pa. 30 and impacted with a car coming to a stop in the center turn lane near Garman Drive, police said.

Jason Lee Perry, 21, of Fayetteville, the driver of the car, was not injured.

No charges will be filed in the accident, police said.

No one hurt in Pa. accident, police say

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - No one was seriously injured when a car attempting to pass another vehicle on the left suddenly veered back into the right lane, contributing to a collision Tuesday afternoon, Pennsylvania State Police report.

Clarence Rudisill, Jr., 28, of Chambersburg, the driver of the first car, was not injured. B. Jean Updegraff, of Fayetteville, had minor injuries, and her passenger, Margaret Brindle, of Chambersburg, was not injured. No one required hospitalization, police report.

The accident happened when the driver of one car attempted to pass a second car headed northbound on Pa. 995 near Lehman Road in Hamilton Township Tuesday at 3:20 p.m., police said. While attempting the pass, the driver realized he was in the path of southbound traffic and suddenly steered to the right, back into northbound lane, at which point the two cars collided, police said.

Both cars came to a rest along the east berm.

Man charged with DUI, then jailed

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - A Pennsylvania man was charged with driving under the influence and jailed after he refused to take a blood alcohol test Tuesday afternoon, Pennsylvania State Police report.

Michael Gene Rowles, 25, of Pleasant Hall, Pa., was charged with driving under the influence and placed in Franklin County Prison Tuesday in lieu of $8,000 bail, police report. He posted bail and was released sometime last week.

Police filed the charges after a man traveling north on Bear Valley Road in Letterkenny Township struck a power pole near Upper Strasburg Road between 3 and 3:15 p.m. and drove away from the collision scene.

The car ran out of oil, causing it to stop. When police arrived, they charged the driver with driving under the influence and transported him to Chambersburg Hospital for a blood alcohol test.
