Jane E. Harrison

Jane Elizabeth Harrison, 80, of Hagerstown, and formerly of Frederick, Md., died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at 3 Chestnut Ave., Boonsboro, the home of her son.

Born June 1, 1920, in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late P. Russell and Irene Wachter Esterly.

Her husband, Robert Reed Harrison Jr., died in October 2000.

She was a former employee of C&P Telephone Co.

She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, where she assisted with the turnover shop.

She is survived by two sons, R. Reed Harrison III of Holmdel, N.J., and Jeffrey B. Harrison of Boonsboro; and two granddaughters, Emily Belle Harrison of Holmdel, and Jayme Elizabeth Harrison of Boonsboro.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown. The Rev. Victor Zuck will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 101 East Baltimore Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740.




Evelyn A. Spessard

Evelyn Anna Elizabeth Spessard, 91, of Bower Avenue, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at her home.

Born Feb. 14, 1909, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Bessie Mae Baker Nichols.

Her first husband, Norman E. West Sr., died in 1957.

She was a member of Downsville Christian Church, Christian Women Fellowship and Manie Long Sunday School Class. She served as financial secretary for eight years.

She was a member of Downsville Senior Citizens Club, Manor Church Senior Citizens Club and was active with the retirees association of J.J Newberry Co.

She is survived by her second husband of 40 years, John E. Spessard; a daughter, Norma Jean Warren of Chambersburg, Pa.; three sons, Norman E. West Jr., of West Point, Va., Donald E. West of Hagerstown, and Jack L. West of Spartanburg, S.C.; two stepsons, Barry D. Spessard and Ronald C. Spessard, both of Waynesboro, Pa.; two sisters, Hazel Genevieve Forcino of Hagerstown, and Gloria Dawn Bradberry of Baltimore; two brothers, Vernon William Nichols of Carlisle, Pa., and Clarence Woodrow Nichols of Martinsburg, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catherine Harp.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. E. Reese Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ralph J. Bowders

Ralph Joseph Bowders, 71, of 9461 Crystal Falls Drive, Hagerstown, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at his home.

Born March 4, 1929, in Antrim Township, State Line, Pa., he was the son of the late Daniel H. and Minnie B. Bowman Bowders.

His wife, June Delores Bowders, died May 4, 1992.

He was retired from M&M Electric Motor Repair Inc., Frederick, Md., after one year of service. He was previously employed with Brandenburg Electric Inc., Frederick, with 30 years of service. He was a master electrician with both companies.

He was a member of Calvary Temple, Williamsport.

He is survived by four daughters, Brenda Jane Bowders of Sharpsburg, Nancy Marie Lida of Boonsboro, Carol Hafer of Chewsville, and Mary Kay Gibson of Hagerstown; a son, Curtis Wayne Bowders of Hagerstown; three sisters, Mary Palmer and Anna May Miller, both of Waynesboro, Pa., and Margaret Gelwicks of York, Pa.; a brother, Merle Bowders of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Julia Bowders, Corrine Stoner and Minnie Bowders; five brothers, Robert Bowders, Melvin Bowders, Johnny Bowders, Guy Bowders, and Roy Bowders.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Calvary Temple, 145 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Beautiful View Cemetery, State Line.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.

Robert L. Noland Sr.

Robert Lauck Noland Sr., 72, of 869 Virginia Ave., Hagerstown, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at his home.

Born June 18, 1928, in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Paul Irving Sr. and Beulah Lois Moser Noland.

He was owner/operator of Bob Noland's Garage, Hagerstown, for 44 years, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church.
