Winfield S. McCoy Jr.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Winfield Scott McCoy Jr., 76, of 536 Briar Lane, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Jan. 23, 1924, in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of the late Winfield S. and Lula V. Smith McCoy.

He attended Shippensburg High School in Shippensburg, Pa.

He was the vehicle division chief at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, retiring in 1979.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army Reserve.

He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, Pa.

He was a member of Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224 of Chambersburg, Harry Lackove Post 517 American Legion of Mercersburg, Pa., Clarence Armstrong Post 6241 VFW of Mercersburg and Chambersburg Rod and Gun Club.


He is survived by his wife, Arlene Smith McCoy, whom he married April 26, 1946; a daughter, Sherriel Golden of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; a son, Wayne McCoy of Mercersburg; a brother, Ross Harold McCoy of Chambersburg; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene McCoy.

A memorial service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 44 E. Main St. in Fayetteville. The Rev. David L. Hefner will officiate.

Burial will be private.

There will be no public viewing.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 44 E. Main St., Fayetteville, PA 17222.

Grace M. Pisle

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Grace M. Pisle, 75, of 2020 Letterkenny Road, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at her home.

Born Nov. 21, 1925, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late David F. and Arabella Kyler Miley.

She had been employed by Sears and the former H.J. Heinz Co. in Chambersburg. She also had worked for Meals-on-Wheels of Chambersburg for a number of years.

She was a member of Chambersburg Bible Church.

She had volunteered with Bible Release Program at Camp Joy-El of Greencastle, Pa., American Red Cross and United Way.

She is survived by her husband, Marlin K. Pisle, whom she married Oct. 22, 1941; a daughter, Shirley A. Baccellieri of Chambersburg; four sisters, Helen Ritter and Pearl Spiker, both of Chambersburg, Fleda Bobb of Carlisle, Pa., and Sandra Lee Douglas of Fayetteville, Pa.; eight brothers, Gervis Miley, Frank Miley, Donald Miley, Ronald Miley and Rodney Miley, all of Chambersburg, Marlyin Miley of Cheney, Wash., Charles Miley of Duncannon, Pa., and Julius Miley of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry M. Clugston, and a son, Marlin K. Pisle Jr.

Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road in Chambersburg. The Rev. John R. Springer will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in Chambersburg.

There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends Sunday at noon at the funeral home.

Virginia M. McLaughlin

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Virginia Martha McLaughlin, 82, of 1120 Brandon Drive, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Harrisburg Hospital.

Born Nov. 9, 1918, in Everett, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Howard John Pittman and Mary Diltz Pittman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. McLaughlin Sr., in 1992.

She worked for the former Stanley Co. in Chambersburg for 32 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a Brethren.

She was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Amvets Post 224 of Chambersburg and Saccattes Group of the Amvets.

She is survived by a son, Walter J. McLaughlin Jr. of Lemoyne, Pa.; two sisters, Frances Matson of Pittsburgh and Helen Bass of Chambersburg; two brothers, Taddious Pittman and Leo Pittman, both of Everett, Pa.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and brothers.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Cherry Lane Cemetery in Everett. The Rev. John R. Springer will officiate.

Visitation will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave. in Chambersburg.

Winifred H. Dittmar

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Winifred H. Dittmar, 88, of 591 Montgomery Ave., died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at her home.

Born Sept. 20, 1912, in Dewitt, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Tyler Arnold Martindale and Ethel D. Stark Martindale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Stuart W. Dittmar, in 1992.

She was a graduate of Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and a graduate of Arkansas University, receiving a bachelor of art degree. She also received a bachelor of science degree in Nursing from San Antonio. She did her nursing internship in New York City.

She worked at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, until 1937.
