Mail Call for 11/22

Editor's note - Please be as brief as possible when calling Mail Call, The Daily Mail's reader call-in line.

Mail Call is not staffed on weekends or holidays so it is best to call Mail Call during the week. The Mail Call number is 301-791-6236.

You are welcome to leave a recorded message on any subject, but some calls will be screened out.

The Daily Mail is also running home towns with the call-ins we receive.

Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"In reference to the Mail Call item on Monday, Nov. 20, a remark about running for mayor of Williamsport. This is Maurice Snyder and I decline the report of this in the paper. I have no intention of running for any office in the town of Williamsport."

"Come on Hagerstown, it is time for a change. We need some color on our town tree. We are tired of the plain old white. Put some color back into our Christmas. Change is good you know. Put some ribbons or something else on it."

"I want to see if anyone else had seen the Remember When? photo that was in the paper on Nov. 14 of the chapel on Corbett Street. It had a whole bunch of children in it. I think I know some of them. They didn't have any names under the picture. If anyone knows any of them, please put their names and what row they were in. I want to know if I know as many as I think I do."

"Lawyers have found a way to win cases where the evidence may be heavily against them. They get a large group of prominent lawyers together and they find anything that will hurt the opposition's witnesses. They will delay, delay and delay. Five years ago, it worked in the O.J. Simpson trial. A year ago it worked with Bill Clinton."

"There are advertisements on TV selling phonics books. When I went to school, we had a principal at each school, no school board. We learned to spell and read, no big deal. Let the teachers teach what they learned in college and get the school board out of their business. They are messing up the education big time."

"To the juniors and seniors of Clear Spring High School. Your class play 'Long Live Rock-n-Roll' presented last week was really great. Thanks to all the directors and actors. It was an enjoyable evening."

"To the person who said to just leave Bill Clinton in there for four more years. I don't know who this poor sole is."

"Does anyone have information on the bus trip to the White House for the candlelight tour? I believe the dates were Dec. 27, 28 and 29. If you could call Mail Call and leave a number where I can find information on it."

"To the person who said Go Gore, Go Gore, Beat Bush. Gore told his campaign chairman, 'I'd tell them anything' There are a lot of people out there that will believe anything and vote for Gore. To the person who wanted to keep Clinton in there. I don't think I would be able to handle that. I have four air medals, six battle stars and I have had enough of the draft dodgers and we would pack up and go to Australia."

"I am so sick of Florida. I wish that Cuba would annex it."

"I want to wish everyone, my friends, my family a happy Thanksgiving and may God be with you all."

"Thanks to Julie Greene for doing an investigation on the candidates running for office in Sharpsburg. She did a good job."
