The Stains

Mr. and Mrs. George Stains of Waynesboro, Pa., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000. A celebration in their honor was hosted by their children, Pam Shoaf, Greg Stains and Beth Hultman, their spouses and grandchildren.

The Stains were married Sept. 16, 1950, at Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church in Waynesboro by the Rev. J.H. Bender, now deceased.

Mrs. Stains is the former Lois Mae Mentzer, daughter of Verna Mentzer and the late Clyde Mentzer.

Mr. Stains is the son of the late Brinton and Grace Stains. He retired from Landis Machine Co. in Waynesboro.

The Coles

Mr. and Mrs. David B. Cole of Williamsport and Orlando, Fla., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at a private dinner with their immediate family and close friends at Nick's Airport Inn in Hagerstown.

On Sunday, Oct. 8, a surprise reception was hosted by their children and grandchildren for approximately 70 relatives and friends.

The Coles were married Oct. 7, 1950, at Williamsport United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mead.

Mrs. Cole is the former Constance Mae Kreps, daughter of Mildred Kreps of Williamsport and the late George F. Kreps. She retired from Cushwa Brick.

Mr. Cole is the son of the late Bruce L. and Anna May Cole. He is a former major league baseball player for the Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies and Brooklyn Dodgers baseball organizations. He retired from Mack Trucks Inc.

Mr. and Mrs. Cole have two sons and twin daughters. Their children and spouses are Pam and David Cole Jr., Darin and Beckie Cole, Karla and Skip Chambers, and Karen and Steve Young.

They have eight grandchildren.
