City talk taken off TV program

A discussion about teen cruising in Hagerstown scheduled for the Friday broadcast of Maryland Public Television's "Newsnight Maryland" program has been canceled because the guests are no longer available.

Mayor Robert E. Bruchey II and City Councilman Lewis C. Metzner were the scheduled guests.

Bruchey said a scheduling conflict will keep him from appearing on the program. Metzner said didn't want to go on the program without the mayor.

Metzner and Bruchey were expected to discuss a proposed anti-cruising law the City Council is expected to vote on Nov. 28.

Bruchey supports the law.

Metzner was the only council member to vote against introducing the law last month.

The proposed law would prohibit cruising along East Franklin and East Washington streets between Potomac Street and Cleveland Avenue from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
