Anniversary Announcements for 11/11

The Thompsons

Ernest and Janet Thompson were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary with a celebration Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, in the social room of Evangel Baptist Church in Hagerstown.

The event was hosted by their children and spouses: Earnest and Ann Thompson; Steven and Darcy Thompson; Roland and Robin Thompson; Daniel and Staci Thompson; Kay and Rick Broome; and Tom and Annette Thompson.

The Thompsons were married Aug. 26, 1950, at Riverdale Baptist Church in Flint, Mich.

Mr. Thompson is pastor of Evangel Baptist Church, where he has ministered for the last 30 years.

They have 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Johnstons

Mr. and Mrs. Maurice F. Johnston recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a family dinner held in their honor at the Airport Inn in Hagerstown. The event was hosted by their children, Carolyn Johnston Crampton and Michael Johnston.


The Johnstons were married Oct. 8, 1950, at St. Paul's Evangelical United Brethren Church, now Otterbein United Methodist Church, by the Rev. F. Berry Plummer, now deceased.

Mrs. Johnston is the former Louise E. Warner. She was employed by Leiter Brothers Department Store for a number of years before becoming a homemaker.

Mr. Johnston is the owner of M.S. Johnston Company in Hagerstown.

They have two grandchildren.

The Keadles

Mr. and Mrs. Gene R. Keadle of Leitersburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, with family at a dinner in their honor at Old South Mountain Inn. The event was hosted by their daughter, Jeannette, of Falls Church, Va., and son Rick of Hagerstown.

The Keadles were married Oct. 7, 1950 at the Presbyterian Church in Charles Town, W.Va., by the Rev. C. Lloyd Arehart.

Mrs. Keadle is the former Nedine Robinson, daughter of the late Clarence and Julia Robinson. She is a volunteer usher at The Maryland Theater.

Mr. Keadle is the son of the late John and Mary Keadle. He retired from Mack Trucks Inc. in 1987.
