MARTINSBURG, W. Va. - Four people were sent to the hospital Thursday morning after two accidents that involved four cars on State Route 45 at Files Crossing Road east of Martinsburg.

Howard Shade, 73, Ranson, remained in City Hospital in stable condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Treated and released were Robin Grove, 40, Martinsburg, Philip Kisner, 13, Shepherdstown, and Keith Snyder, 43, Shepherdstown.

Shade's vehicle pulled out from Files Crossing Road about 7:15 a.m. Thursday and collided with a vehicle driven by Karen Kisner, 43, Shepherdstown, said Trooper Carl Mahood of the West Virginia State Police.

Traffic had slowed after the accident when a vehicle driven by Grove struck the rear of the vehicle driven by Snyder. It then hit Kisner's car, although it inflicted very little more damage to it, Mahood said.
