Richard S. Oyler

Richard Shane "Mooner" Oyler, 33, of 9455 Early Drive, Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 2, 1967, in Washington County, he was the son of Richard W. Oyler of Williamsport, and the late Mary Elizabeth Buchanan Oyler.

He was employed by Spartan Electric in Ijamsville, Md.

He coached at South Mountain Little League.

He was a member of Western Maryland Sportsman's Club and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

In addition to his father, he is survived by two sisters, Sunni Bittinger of Hagerstown, and Maggie Dietrich of Clear Spring; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Buchanan of Williamsport; paternal grandmother, Kathleen Oyler of Hagerstown; paternal grandfather, Howard Oyler of Florida; a niece, and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Junior Clyde Buchanan.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Broadfording Cemetery in Broadfording.


The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ricky L. Stotler

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Ricky Lynn Stotler, 45, of Martinsburg, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

Born Aug. 29, 1955, in Martinsburg, he was the son of Phyllis Grimm Weatherholtz of Clear Spring.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Tracy Stotler of Martinsburg; a son, Rick Stotler of Martinsburg; a sister, Cheryl Weatherholtz of Martinsburg; three brothers, Terry Weatherholtz, Thomas Weatherholtz and Steven Weatherholtz, all of Martinsburg; maternal grandmother, Mildred Grimm of Martinsburg; aunts; uncles; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Rosedale Cemetery. The Rev. Greg Twigg will officiate.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

L. Grace Mellott

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - L. Grace Mellott, 75, of 103 Village Square, and formerly of 6890 Renninger Road, Mercersburg, Pa., who died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at Village Square, is survived by a brother, Roy Phenicie Jr. of Greencastle, Pa.

Gloria P. Smith

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Gloria P. Verdier Smith, 70, of 12364 Old Pen Mar Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at her home.

Born Nov. 22, 1929, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late John W. Verdier and Martha Bishop Verdier Freeman.

She attended Waynesboro schools.

She retired in 1992 from Hooverville Elementary School cafeteria, where she worked for 18 years.

She attended Blue Mountain Church of God in Smithsburg.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Floyd E. Smith; three daughters, Martha L. Larson of Larimore, N.D., Carole A. Spencer of Lewisburg, W.Va., and Vicky J. Tosten of Fayetteville, Pa.; one son, Jeffrey L. Smith of Waynesboro; three sisters, Bertha D. Crouse and Shirley A. Faith, both of Waynesboro, and Doris M. Garling of Zullinger, Pa.; two brothers, Mark L. Verdier of Waynesboro and Harry L. Verdier of Birmingham, Ala.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Karl Freeman; and one sister, Betty J. Eck.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Pastor Mary E. Crampton will officiate. Burial will be in Harbaugh Church Cemetery near Rouzerville, Pa.

The family will receive friends Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Richard L. Bailey

FUNKSTOWN - Richard Lionel Bailey, 81, of 10 W. Chestnut St., died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at his home.

Born May 17, 1919, in Funkstown, he was the son of the late Robert Lester and Rosa Lee Wolfe Bailey.

He was a 1937 graduate of Hagerstown High School.

He retired from M.P. Moller Co. and Fairchild Corp.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown, the church choir and was superintendent of the adult Sunday school.

He was a member of the Mason Dixon Barber Shop group and the Vineyard and Rainbow groups of Via De Christo.

He is survived by two sisters, Thelma I. Shipley of Hagerstown and Doris Rose Bailey-Grimm of Bethesda, Md.; and one brother, Charles D. Bailey of Funkstown.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 24 E. Baltimore St., Funkstown. The Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate.

There will be no viewing or visitation. It was his wish to donate his body to science.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 148, Funkstown, MD 21734.

Arrangements are by Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro.

George P. Lowery Jr., 53, of Hagerstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Md.
