Nemcek, Harmon, Keller, Weller honored for help



The Washington County Community Partnership for Children and Families recently recognized four community members for helping youngsters and their families.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Ethel Nemcek volunteers her time, money and energy to help children and their families with health, legal and educational concerns.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Dolores Harmon was praised for her work as regional manager for Western Maryland's Child Care Services. In that capacity, Harmon is responsible for decisions about the lives of dozens of children every day - their needs for food and quality health care.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Janet Keller was singled out as a person of character, serving as the organizational volunteer for the Sharpsburg 4-H Club. In 10 years of working with 4-H youngsters, Keller has taught and modeled the unselfish giving of her time and talents to Sharpsburg families.

HEIGHT="6" ALT="* "> Michael Weller has taught fire safety and injury prevention to thousands of Washington County residents at Children's Village, in area high schools and at various public forums. In his work, Weller has shaped the future of children and families in an atmosphere of personal safety.

The four were recognized at the second annual Community Partnership Summit at the Ramada Inn.

Workshop topics included how to strengthen families, building partnerships, coordinating community service, effective communication and conflict resolution.
