The Banzhoffs

Carl and June (Lyday) Banzhoff of Williamsport celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at the Fireside Restaurant with their children, John and Carla, and their spouses.

The Banzhoffs were married Oct. 11, 1950, by the Rev. F. Berry Plummer at St. Paul's United Brethren Church in Hagerstown.

Earlier this year, the Banzhoffs enjoyed a Caribbean cruise presented by their children in honor of their 50 years together.

Mrs. Banzhoff, daughter of Helen Lyday, is a retired registered nurse.

Mr. Banzhoff, son of Keller and Frances Banzhoff, is a retired Williamsport barber.

The Banzhoffs have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Gentiles

Charles and Catherine Gentile of Greencastle, Pa., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise dinner party Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000, at the Special Event Center in Greencastle.

The event was hosted by their children and spouses: Chuck and Sarah Gentile; Bob and Jan Gentile; Cathy and Donnie Barnes; and Ron and Sheryl Gentile. All are from the Greencastle and State Line, Pa., area.

More than 90 relatives and friends from Florida, Vermont, Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania attended the event. Five generations of Mr. Gentile's family were present.

The Gentiles were given a bus trip to Branson, Mo., by their children.

The Gentiles were married Sept. 2, 1950, in Cumberland, Md.

They are members of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Greencastle, where a Mass was said in their honor.

Mrs. Gentile is a homemaker.

Mr. Gentile retired in 1987 from Mack Trucks Inc. after 24 years of service.

They have seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
