Roundup - TJ sweeps Frederick to win CMC title

FREDERICK, Md. - Erin Maldo had 15 service points, 15 kills and four blocks Tuesday as No. 8 Thomas Johnson beat Frederick 15-3, 16-14, 16-14 to win its fifth Central Maryland Conference championship.

Emily Hauver had 12 kills, five service points and four digs, Allison Koski had 24 assists and 10 service points and Ashley Cregger had six kills for the Patriots (12-1). JV: Thomas Johnson, 2-0.

Hedgesville 3, Martinsburg 0

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Tracy Regalbuto had 16 service points to lead No. 5 Hedgesville past Martinsburg 15-12, 15-7, 15-11.

Ashley Copenhaver and Kerry Jackson each had seven service points for the Eagles (25-4-4). JV: Hedgesville, 2-1.

James Buchanan 2, Fairfield 0

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Tara Hoover had 16 digs as No. 10 James Buchanan beat Fairfield 15-8, 15-6.

Jena Swailes had four kills, nine service points and three blocks for the Rockets (14-5). Abby Stoner had seven kills and six service points, Sammy Brown had 20 digs and Emily Stoner had 23 kill assists.

MSD 3, Middletown 1

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Amanda Kaufman had nine kills and two blocks and Aubrey Pfau had 10 blocks and five kills in Middletown's 15-13, 13-15, 15-12, 15-9 loss to Maryland School for the Deaf. JV: MSD, 3-0.

McConnellsburg 2, Northern Bedford 0

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Erica Culler had 15 service points to lead No. 6 McConnellsburg to a 15-4, 15-6 win over Northern Bedford.

Niki Chesnut had seven service points and eight assists and Elina Pruch had five kills for the Spartans (14-1).

Greencastle 2, Scotland 0

SCOTLAND, Pa. - Kathy Kershner had 15 assists to lead No. 9 Greencastle (15-1) to a 15-8, 15-2 sweep of Scotland.

Calvary 3, Heritage 1

CUMBERLAND, Md. - Heidi Stamper had 14 points, nine kills and five aces for Heritage Academy, but Calvary Christian beat the Eagles 15-8, 15-4, 3-15, 15-11.

Whitney Schlimgen had five aces and six points for Heritage. Karen Daley had six points, seven kills and two blocks. Chrissy Ennis had six points, two kills and 10 assists.

Williamsport 3, Clear Spring 0

WILLIAMSPORT - Kristine Porac had 15 assists and 10 service points to lead No. 3 Williamsport to a 15-5, 15-5, 15-6 win over Clear Spring.

Danielle Munson had seven kills and nine blocks, Paula Ryan added five kills for the Wildcats (10-1).

Sarah Barr had six kills, two digs and two blocks for Clear Spring. Amie Eichelberger had 13 assists and four service points. Renee Repp had four service points and one ace. JV: Williamsport, 2-0.

Martinsburg 3, Goretti 0

Brett Stone had 10 kills and Heidi Siirtola had eight, but the Gaels fell 15-3, 15-9, 15-6 in the Apple Valley League. Martinsburg is 14-14. Goretti is 1-18. JV: Martinsburg, 2-0.

Heritage 5, Broadfording 0

Jeremy Grove had two goals, while Ryan Marquiss and Jesse Latta each had a goal and an assist to lead Heritage in the first round of the Mason Dixon Christian Conference tournament.

Micah Shatzer added one goal for the Eagles (9-3-2). Justin Cline had four saves to record the shutout.

South 2, Clear Spring 0

Sharew Hailu and Andrew Corson each had one goal as South Hagerstown beat Clear Spring at School Stadium.

Danny West and Emmens Rho each had an assist for the Rebels (4-7). Scott Barish had his 11 saves for his second shutout of the year.

Goretti 4, Boonsboro 2

Ben Hood had two goals and one assist as St. Maria Goretti beat Boonsboro. Seth Henry and David Savino each had one goal for the Gaels (7-8-2), while Steve Kamas had two assists and Owen McAteer had one. Sean Beyard had one goal for Boonsboro.

Catoctin 2, Brunswick 1

THURMONT, Md. - Ben Whitney and Chris Dumas scored goals in the second half to lift Catoctin over Brunswick in the completion of a game suspended on Sept. 14.

Andy Folk had an assist for the Cougars (6-7). Matt Putnam scored in the first half for Brunswick.

Lauren Ebersole scored a pair of unassisted goals as Clear Spring beat South Hagerstown.

Amy Mills had 11 saves for the Blazers (4-9-1). Ashley Mullican had six saves for South (4-10).

Jamel Smith and Mike Campbell scored touchdowns in the first loss of the season for South (7-1).

Todd Glines had three catches for 91 yards for South (3-4-1).

Catawba wins conference title

WINGATE, N.C. - Catawba College won its second South Atlantic Conference title, hanging on for a five-game victory on the road, 15-11, 10-15, 15-12, 9-15, 18-16.

The Indians (31-6, 11-3) led 14-9 in the rally-scoring final game, but Wingate scored five straight points to tie. Catawba righted the ship and closed the game on a kill by Brooke Werner, who finished with 17 kills, 18 digs and a career high 10 blocks on the night. Her 17 kills also set a school record for kills in a season, with 567. Williamsport graduate Ann Fulk finished with 53 assists for Catawba, which is the top seed in the conference tournament this weekend.
