He is survived by two sons, Michael J. Werzyn of Denver, and William J. Werzyn of South Mountain, Pa.; a brother, Edward A. Werzyn of Mesa, Ariz.; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Josephine Savitski; and a brother, Stanley F. Werzyn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St., Waynesboro. The Rev. Joseph C. Carolin will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. A wake service will be held at 8 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's School Fund, 12 N. Board St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.




Edwin R. Ebersole Sr.

Edwin R. Ebersole Sr., 79, of Hagerstown, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Born Oct. 28, 1920, in Winchester, Va., he was the son of the late Ollie and Tella Brewer Ebersole.

He was a 1939 graduate of Handley High School, Winchester.

He was employed by J. Edward Cochran and Co., retiring in 1986.

He served in the U.S. Army with Headquarters Co., 331st Infantry 83rd Division in Normandy, the Belgium Bulge and Rhineland, among others.

He was a member of John Welsey United Methodist Church in Hagerstown.

He was past master of Friendship Lodge 84 A.F. & A.M.; a member of Ali Ghan Temple A.A.O.N.M.S.; the American Legion, Morris Frock Post 42; B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378 of Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline Ebersole, whom he married July 18, 1942; two daughters, Patricia Ann Muritz of Hagerstown and Barbara Jean Simmons of Smithsburg; two sons, Edwin R. Ebersole Jr. and Richard L. Ebersole, both of Hagerstown; a sister, Evangeline Ebersole of Winchester; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Kenneth S. Valentine will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will be conducted by the Friendship Lodge 84 A.F. & A.M. at 7:15 p.m.
