Glenna Lee Payne Paden, 79, formerly of 240 S. Potomac St., who died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Clearview Nursing Home in Hagerstown, was preceded in death by a sister, Mavadelle Payne, and a brother, Harold H. McCullough.

Cheryl Y. Yates
KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. - Cheryl Y. Yates, 54, of Kearneysville, died Sunday, Oct. 22, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.
Born July 27, 1946, in Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ralph Rideout and Esther Dorsey.
She retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
She was a member of Sylvannah Baptist Church in Rippon, W.Va.
She was a member of Ethel Johnson Temple 1075, Daughters of Elks in Charles Town.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest R. Yates; one daughter, Lisa L. Bagwell of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sons, John Curtis Clarke III of Inwood, W.Va., and Michael Clarke of Kearneysville; two stepsons, Shawn Yates of Martinsburg and Conte Yates of Charles Town, W.Va.; one sister, Evita Osequera of Los Angeles; four brothers, Ralph Rideout Jr. of Los Angeles, David Rideout of Brooklyn, N.Y., Gene Rideout and Vanuel Barbour, both of Chambersburg, Pa.; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an aunt and uncle who raised her, William and Cornelia Brown.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood, W.Va. The Rev. Lawrence E. Wilson Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Myerstown Cemetery, Rippon, W.Va.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., at South Berkeley Chapel.
The family will meet Friday at noon at the home of the deceased.
Martha V. Shorts
CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Martha Virginia Shorts, 98, of Charles Town, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Noble Washington Shorts.
Born Dec. 1, 1901, in Charles Town, she was the daughter of the late James Henry and Annie Dotson Davis.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of King's Apostle Holiness Church of God.
She is survived by one son, William Frederick Shorts of Charles Town; and one sister, Elsie Myrtle Davis of Charles Town.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home in Ranson, W.Va. Bishops Wilbur Baltimore and Dignat Sterling Porter will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.
The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charles B. "Chuck" Houser IV, 34, of Martinsburg, who died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, in an automobile accident on Route 7 at Hedgesville, W.Va., was a member of Downsville Christian Church. He was also a member of Western Maryland Sportsman's Club.
Mildred C. Scott
LAKE WYLIE, S.C. - Mildred C. Scott, 90, formerly of 7 Sunrise Point Road, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Westminster Towers in Rock Hill, S.C.
Born Sept. 29, 1910, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Orville and Anna Renner Lynn. She had lived in Oreland, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Scott.
She graduated from Woman's Medical College in Philadelphia.
She retired from Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, Pa., where she worked as a registered nurse.
She is survived by a daughter, Lynne S. Gessner of Lake Wylie; three granddaughters, Janet G. Alford of Rock Hill, S.C., Susan G. Stewart of Raleigh, N.C. and Anne K. Gessner of Charlotte, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas E. Scott.
Services were held Monday at River Hills Community Church, Lake Wylie. The Rev. Bruce Jones officiated. Burial was in the Church Cemetery.
