Clifford E. Clabaugh

THURMONT, Md. - Clifford E. "Tip" Clabaugh, 85, of Gateway Drive, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Frederick Health Care Center, Frederick, Md.

Born Feb. 11, 1915 in Thurmont, he was the son of the late Elmer and Carrie Lewis Clabaugh.

He worked construction all his life. He worked for CJ Langfellow Construction and most recently with Potts Callahan Construction for 12 years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II.

He was a member of Edwin C. Creeger American Legion Post 168, Thurmont; Thurmont AMVETS, where he helped organize the original club; and Elks Lodge, Frederick.


He is survived by two sons, Robert Clabaugh of Sabillasville, and Gary Lee Clabaugh of Thurmont; a daughter, Hypaita Miller of Thurmont; a stepson, Michael Clabaugh of Frederick; four brothers, Lewis Clabaugh, Joseph Clabaugh, Peter Clabaugh, and Ray Clabaugh; two sisters, Laura Tenney and Lottie Bostian; special friend, Betty Stockman; his first wife, Evelyn Lewis; his second wife, Peg Clabaugh; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Elsworth Clabaugh; two brothers, Robert Clabaugh and John Clabaugh; and a sister, Carrie Clabaugh.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont. The Rev. Julie Brigham will officiate. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery, Thurmont.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Richard W. DeMoske

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Richard W. DeMoske, of Martinsburg and formerly of Moorestown, N.J., died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at his home.

Born in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Elsie Eiszler DeMoske.

He was a graduate of South Hills High School in Pittsburgh; and the University of Pittsburgh.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Moorestown.

He was a member of Rotary International; Republican Club; and Sales and Marketing Executive Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Lawson DeMoske; a daughter, Janet DeMoske Cross of North Attleboro, Mass.; a son, Richard Lawson DeMoske of Moorestown; and two grandsons.

A private memorial service will be held at Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St. in Martinsburg.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 2015 Boyd Orchard Court, Martinsburg, WV 25401; or to a charity of one's choice.

Henry M. Gomez

GAITHERSBURG, Md. - Retired 1st Sgt. Henry Medrano Gomez, 80, of Gaithersburg, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

Born July 15, 1920, in Edna, Texas, he was the son of the late Diego and Susana Medrano Gomez.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary E. Gomez; one daughter, Mary Gomez-Briggs of Gaithersburg; one sister, Susana Gomez of Manaor, Texas; one brother, Tim Gomez of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Lupe Torres; and a brother, Willie Gomez.

Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Olin L. Molesworth Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road in Damascus, Md. Burial with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, in Arlington National Cemetery. Family and friends should assemble after 12:30 p.m. in the administration building of the cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to American Kidney Foundation or American Heart Association.

Sadie E. Buhrman

Sadie E. Buhrman, 83, of Poplar Grove Road, Hagerstown, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro.

Born April 24, 1917, in Rouzerville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Crawford R. and Ina M. Pryor Bumbaugh Sr.

Her husband, H. Ralph Buhrman Sr., died in 1997.

She was employed by Thurmont Shoe Factory; Claire Frock in Thurmont, Md.; and Waynesboro Knitting Mill.

She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church in Leitersburg, and a former member of Germantown Bethel Church of God in Cascade.

She is survived by two daughters, Josephine S. Willard of Waynesboro, Pa., and Doris L. Thrailkill of Smithsburg; one son, Butch Buhrman Jr. of Hagerstown; three sisters, Ina Mae Buhrman of Cascade, Susan K. Eigenbrode of Smithsburg, and Ruth B. Martin of Largo, Fla.; one brother, Albert G. Bumbaugh of Chambersburg; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Edna M. Buhrman; and four brothers, Calvin T. Bumbaugh, Edgar P. Bumbaugh, Glenn R. Bumbaugh and Crawford R. Bumbaugh Jr.

Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg. Pastors Odell Stone and Paul Tobias will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery in Cascade.
