You are welcome to leave a recorded message on any subject, but some calls will be screened out.

Here are some of the calls we have received lately:

"Are cats such a big problem in Washington County that we need to go to the Maryland General Assembly about them? Washington County will be the laughing stock of Maryland over this one."

- Smithsburg

"You got to wonder who is running this county, Rodney Shoop or the County Commissioners."

"Can you vote in the presidential election, if you didn't vote in the primaries? Call Mail Call and let us know."

"In the Oct. 12 Mail Call, I read about the blue birds. This morning I counted 14 blue birds on our electric line at my home. My husband has been making bird houses for them. We have six boxes up. They were here this summer and they will stay year around. On television on 'Outdoors Maryland' on Channel 31, there was an article about Maryland Blue Birds on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m."

"Who is paying for all the buses and hotels for all the people to go to this family march in Washington? Is that coming out of the taxpayers' money?"

"I know how to bring peace to the Middle East. All we have to do is stop giving Israel the $12 billion in foreign aid that we give them every year, until they come around. Then things will straighten up over there real quick."

"To the person who has problems with the possums underneath their mobile homes. I assume they are getting under it. Use common sense and put on a skirting for the trailer."

"Friday the 13th is not all that bad because our daughter and sister were born on this day. Happy birthday, Debbie, and many best wishes to come. We love you."

"I am so sorry about the news that I heard about the sailors that were killed in Yemen on the USS Cole. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those sailors who were killed and presumed missing. I pray for peace and hope we find out who was responsible for this. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and everyone. We need peace."

- Hagerstown

"I am extremely amazed that there are still railroads in this county that do not have flashing lights or gates. I just came off of Sterling Road. It is pitch black and the only thing there is a sign that says railroad crossing and there was a train on the track. In this day and age, there is no reason why there shouldn't be flashing lights at that track. Please could someone put in the paper who to contact in order to have those lights installed. There are several railroad crossings in the county that do not have them. I feel that all of them should and action should be taken before someone gets killed. If you have a number, please call so we can get some action started on those railroad lights."

"Congratulations, Tiffany, for winning Homecoming Queen at South Hagerstown High. I love you whole bunches and Tosh and Beanie, I love you whole bunches, too. Love always, Aunt Sandy."

"Ram Stadium is beautiful. Shepherd College has created a fine addition to the Tri-State area. Congratulations on a job well done to Shepherdstown and John Doyle."

"Anyone interested going to Benny Hinn Crusade, please call 301-733-3879. Thank you."
