Pa. police probe man found in car


GREENE TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police impounded a car and are investigating its occupant after discovering heroin in the vehicle early Thursday morning.

Police saw the man slumped over his steering wheel outside the Green Village Restaurant in Greene Township at 12:40 a.m. Thursday. Franklin County Emergency Medical Services transported the suspect to Chambersburg Hospital.

He was treated and released but denied ownership of a needle and several packets of heroin police found in the car.

Police impounded the car and are still investigating the incident.

Untaxed cigarettes result in Pa. citation


ANTRIM TOWNSHIP, Pa. - An Olyphant, Pa., man was cited for carrying unstamped cigarettes after stopping at an interstate weigh station Wednesday, Pennsylvania State Police report.

Officers cited Michael J. Karwaski, 39, for having the untaxed cigarettes after they were discovered during an inspection of his truck-tractor by troopers at a weigh station on Interstate 81 in Antrim Township at 10:31 a.m. Wednesday.

Dirt bike stolen in Peters Township


FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. - Someone stole a dirt bike on display in West Peters Township last week, Pennsylvania State Police report.

Scott Lee Todd, of Ft. Loudon, Pa., told police the dirt bike was secured with a cable and on display outside of 11371 Lincoln Way in West Peters Township between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday.

The KX125 bike is valued at $4,500.

Man charged with assault


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Pennsylvania State Police charged Hans Peter Klein, 414 Park St., Mont Alto, Pa., with aggravated assault Friday night.

Police say a man threatened three people with a shotgun and a sledge hammer. The man first threatened a woman in his residence with a shotgun and later went to Waynesboro where he threatened two more people with a 10-pound sledge hammer, police said.

Two-car wreck sends 3 to hospital


LETTERKENNY TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A two-car collision Saturday morning sent three people to the hospital, Pennsylvania State Police report.

Mary Hockenberry, of Pleasant Hall, Pa., was pulling her Oldsmobile from a private drive on to PA 533 around 10:30 a.m. Saturday when Nathen Runk, of Upper Stroudsburg, Pa., traveling west on the road in a Chevrolet struck the left side of the car, police said.

Both cars sustained severe damage, and Runk, Hockenberry and her passenger were transported to Chambersburg Hospital for minor injuries.

Woman struck by car in St. Thomas


ST. THOMAS TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A Fannettsburg. Pa., woman was taken to an area hospital Saturday after she was struck by a woman backing out of a driveway, Pennsylvania State Police report.

Esther Mae Arnold, 48, was traveling west on Lincoln Way when Loretta Pauline Akers, 25, backed into the roadway striking the front of Arnold's car with the rear of her car, police said.

Arnold was treated at Chambersburg Hospital for minor injuries. Police are investigating the accident.

Frederick County serves 23 warrants


FREDERICK, Md. - The Frederick County Sheriff's Office Special Assignment Unit served 23 arrest warrants during a sweep of Frederick County Sunday morning, deputies said.

Those arrested were being held at the Frederick County Detention Center pending bond hearings Sunday evening.

Members of the Brunswick and Frederick City Police departments aided in the arrests.

Money, lingerie taken in Greene


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Thirty dollars and lingerie were stolen from a woman's home in Greene Township recently, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police said sometime between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Oct. 11, a burglar entered the woman's home on Anthony Highway south of Pa. 30 and stole $20 from her purse, $10 from a metal tin in a bedroom and three teddies from a dresser.

The burglar then fled the scene, police said.

Information about the incident was released by police Sunday evening.
