Smithsburg Orchestra presents new concert



The Smithsburg High School Orchestra, under the direction of Evan Price, will present the first concert of its 2000-2001 concert season on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m., at the Smithsburg High School auditorium.

The concert will include a performance of Vivaldi's Concerto in B Minor for four violins, featuring solo violinists Jessica Fitzwater, Andrea Bibbs, Tara Yost and Elizabeth Surgeon, and pianist Josh Horsch.

Emelene Hall will be the violin soloist in an arrangement of "Danse Macabre," by Saint-Saens.

Other works to be performed include "Cello Rondo" by Daniels, "Bacchanale'' from Saint-Saens' "Samson and Delilah," the first movement of J.C. Bach's "Sinfonia in D Major," "Variations on a Well-Known Sea Chanty" by Stephan, the finale from Prokofiev's "Classical Symphony" and the "Rocky and Bullwinkle Theme" by Comstock.

Admission to the concert is free. Donations will be accepted at the door.
