BOONSBORO - No. 2 Middletown had to work twice as hard - literally - to take the Monocacy Valley Athletic League title.

Sam Wilson scored four minutes into the first overtime as the Knights kept their perfect season alive with a 1-0 victory over Boonsboro's nine-player defense Tuesday night.

"Our goal was 0-0, and through regulation we got it," Boonsboro coach Karen Sornson said. "They played it great. The defense kept holding off the crosses and they got no headers."

Krista Hurley, Ashley Reeder and Ashley Gossert, the leading scorers for Boonsboro (3-5-1, 2-3-1), pulled back and joined Maggie Tierney, Krystal Kennedy, Katy Kretzer and Bethany Windle in the back.
