McConnellsburg woman dies in accident



McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - A McConnellsburg woman died following a two-vehicle accident Sunday in Todd Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Fulton County.

The police report said Louise G. Gordon, 73, was not wearing a seat belt in the 4:03 p.m. accident at U.S. 30 and Old U.S. 30. She was thrown from the 1991 Buick Century that she was driving westbound on U.S. 30.

Police said Gordon tried to make a left turn onto Old U.S. 30 and pulled into the path of an eastbound 1992 Cadillac driven by Edward Knoft, 59, of Apopka, Fla. Gordon's car was hit on the driver's side. It spun around and ejected her before it came to rest on U.S. 30.

Police said Gordon was pronounced dead shortly after the accident at the Fulton County Medical Center. Two passengers in her car, Judy Barnett, 50, of Hustontown, Pa., and Sherman Gordon, 76, of McConnellsburg, had moderate injuries, according to police.

A passenger in Knoft's car, Theresa Knoft, 59, also of Apopka, had moderate injuries, Police said. Another passenger, Joseph Johnson, 2, of Apopka, had minor injuries.

Fulton County Medical Center would not provide information about patient conditions, but Sherman Gordon was transferred to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown, Pa., and was in fair condition Monday afternoon.

McConnellsburg fire and ambulance personnel assisted at the accident scene, police said.
