Alice L. Rush

GLENGARY, W.Va. - Alice L. Rush, 91, of Glengary, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Glengary.

Born Dec. 15, 1908, in Ash County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Spence and Amanda Slutter Norris.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Rush.

She was a Baptist.

She is survived by a daughter, Willie A. Manoli of Glengary; three sons, Thomas D. Rush of Midwest City, Okla., Onie Rush of Shepherdstown, W.Va., and Carl F. Rush of Glengary; a sister, Mae Dollar of Abington, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Lucille Rush and Carolyn Rush; a son, Benjamin Rush; and five brothers.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood, W.Va. The Rev. Dottie Dunham will officiate. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the chapel.




Mary E. Coyle

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Mary Elizabeth Coyle, 81, of Charles Town, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at Rose Hill Nursing Home in Berryville, Va.

Born Sept. 9, 1919, in Romney, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Alonzo P. and Minnie Frances Wilson Peters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Marion "Bill" Coyle, in 1989.

She was a graduate of Romney, W.Va. High School and received her degree in education from Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, W.Va., and her masters degree from Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pa.

She was a teacher for the Frederick County, Md., school system and previously taught at Old Wright Denny Elementary School in Charles Town and in Romney and Augusta, W.Va., schools.

She was a member of Leetown United Methodist Church in Leetown, W.Va.

She was a member of West Virginia Retired Teachers Association, served several terms on the Charles Town City Council representing the 4th Ward and worked for Beautification of Downtown Charles Town.

She was a member of Phi Sigma Ki Education Association, Dolly Madison Garden Club and The Supper Club and a former member of Jefferson County Cotillion Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Anne Wilson Portrey of Charles Town; two sons, William Scott Coyle and Richard Todd Coyle, both of Charles Town; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters, Wilda P. Mallow, Constance Frost, Mildred Bazzle, Ruth Evans and Arvella Moler, and two brothers, Alonzo D. Peters and Earl Peters.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Leetown United Methodist Church. The Revs. Paul Ritter and Richard E. Neal will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens in Martinsburg, W.Va.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town.

David C. Knode

David Clinton Knode, 41, of 119 North Mont Valla Ave., Hagerstown, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at his home.

Born July 1, 1959, in Washington County, he was the son of Helen Louise Brown Knode of Hagerstown and the late Earl Evers Knode.

He was previously employed by Rocky's Pizza on Public Square in Hagerstown.

He was affiliated with Seventh-day Adventist.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters, Earlene Miley of Clear Spring and Robin Sue Myers of Hagerstown; four brothers, Frederick Knode and John Knode, both of Hagerstown, Logan Knode of Clear Spring and Christopher Woodell of Funkstown; six nieces; two nephews; and two great-nephews.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. in Hagerstown. Chaplain Josephine Benten will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Zettie L. Zello

Zettie Louise Zello, 87, a resident of Avalon Manor Nursing Home, Hagerstown, and formerly of Lappans Road, Boonsboro, who died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, is survived by four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.




Richard C. Ehlers

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - A memorial service for Richard Craig "Rich" Ehlers, 53, of Harpers Ferry, who died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, will be held Saturday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. at St. Andrews on the Mount Episcopal Church in Harpers Ferry. The Rev. Victor Lawson will officiate.

Burial will be private.

There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
