CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Participants in a road rally this Sunday can learn about Franklin County history while helping Habitat for Humanity raise money for affordable housing.

"This is an activity that's designed for the entire family," said Alice Meloy of Doylesburg, Pa., an organizer of the rally. "The rally will give family members a chance to discover hidden aspects of our county's history and geography while enjoying the fall season," she said.

Registration will be taken from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at four locations: the Central Presbyterian Church on Memorial Square in Chambersburg; The James Buchanan statue on the square in Mercersburg; the ELM Department Store on the square in Greencastle; and the Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Waynesboro.

Tickets are $5 per person and include admission to a 5 p.m. spaghetti dinner at the St. Paul United Methodist Church on Norland Avenue in Chambersburg.

Rally participants at all four registration sites will receive a map outlining 20 sites that played an important role in the county's history. "Two bonus sites will be included for the truly ambitious," Meloy said.

Tickets for the rally are available at the registration sites or by calling 1-717-267-1899, or 1-717-349-2685.
