BOONSBORO - The Boonsboro Town Council agreed Monday night to donate $100 to the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program.

The money will be put toward D.A.R.E. T-shirts for Boonsboro Middle School students.

Boonsboro Mayor Charles "Skip" Kauffman said the town donates money to D.A.R.E. every year. The program is run by the Maryland State Police.

"It's a very good program, and we commend the state police for doing that every year," Kauffman said.

BOONSBORO - The Boonsboro Town Council voted Monday to purchase a bike for the Washington County Sheriff's Resident Deputy department in Boonsboro. The bicycle is expected to cost between $350-$450.

Town Manager Jake Jones said a neighborhood bike patrol is a good idea.

"The locals see the cruiser coming and they split," Jones said.

BOONSBORO - Boonsboro Town Council members Ray Gross and Richard Hawkins will sit on the Park Addition Advisory Board.

Other residents appointed to the panel include: George Messner, Peggy Beeler, Chris Hawkins, Bob Glausier, A.J. Nicolosi, Nancy Shatto and Brian Haupt.

A representative from the Boonsboro Area Athletic Association and a junior at Boonsboro High School will also be named.

BOONSBORO - The Boonsboro Town Council agreed to purchase 22 light bases at a cost of $14,520 for the Main Street Project. The bases cost $660 each.

BOONSBORO - The front porch of the Boonsboro Town Hall is expected to be renovated within the next few weeks, Town Manager Jake Jones said Monday.
